Otis Technology Bronze Bore Brush 10 Pack (Select Your Caliber)

The Otis brushes were shipped promptly and are of excellent quality. I've used plenty of bronze bristle bore brushes as a firearms instructor and these have the design to last a good while.

Ok, I must admit that I was attracted to these because of the price for the 10 pack. With shipping to my zip code, these cost about $1.85 each which is a pretty fair price. When they arrived, I was taken back by the shortness of the bristle brushes. I compared this item to an existing one that I use and found the Otis brush is about 1/2 the length of mine. An email to Otis along with an accompanying comparison picture netted a reply that Otis has no plans in the future to produce a longer bristle unit. Me thinks that I bought brushes for a 50 cal pistol or maybe a black powder rifle. I will use these, no doubt but I will double check closely before any future purchases.One thing in Otis's favor over other brands is the spiral wire doubles back on itself at the tip and leaves a smooth edge on the nose of the brush. Similiar gun show bore brushes are usually spiral wound and then just clipped off and this leaves sharp edges that can damage the bore if you are not careful. Be aware that the wire also attracts a magnet even though it appears to be brass. It is brass colored steel somewhat like 'copper washed' ammo that is on the market.Not diasappointed, just surprised at the big difference between what I already use for a bore brush and what I received.I give it 5 stars due to the density of the bristles in comparison to the other brushes that are out there.

Needed several brushes to clean muzzleloader. These had good quality and served their purpose well!

The packaging was a single reusable hard clamshell that held all 10 brushes. Not the individual (or even 5 per) snap top ones shown in the picture. Part of the reason I ordered this one was for that white plastic box, I figured it would fit in my range bag quite nicely. Otherwise they are typical Otis brushes. If you have an Otis cleaning kit you know what you are getting.

As described, work nice for the job that I bought them for.

The picture shows that the core is brass but what I got was clearly not brass. It was steel painted in black, I checked with a magnet and it stuck to it signalling that it was indeed not brass. I don't know what otis is trying to pull here but they seem to just switched to the black painted steel. Try to avoid their brushes cause they will run a chance of you scratching your barrel.

they are brass brushes like any other, but i do feel Otis makes great cleaning products.I prefer brass over nylon or hybrids for certain projects, not all. They last longer, but not forever..223 is a popular enough caliber to warrant buying in 'bulk' and this is a great price per unit... you'd have have to buy an awful lot more than 10 to get a significantly better price than this.
