Works like a charm
Glad I didn’t believe some of the bad reviews, several of which apparently are due to people not reading the operation instructions. We live in a 1900 sq. ft. open concept home, and this is able to get the humidity level up to a comfortable level even when set on low, and we are very pleased with it. Quick “bullets”: There IS a fill line, though it’s hard to see, so we used a permanent marker to draw a small line so as to not overfill it: problem solved. (If you overfill it, it will damage the motor so the water will drain out of a little hole in the back.) It’s on wheels and is easy to move, even when filled. The fan set on low is not loud, and we don’t have to turn up the TV even though it is in the same room. When on high, it’s louder, of course, but that’s to be expected. The built-in humidistat makes is easy to control the humidity level in your home. Summary: Great unit that efficiently and conveniently does the job at a decent price.

Good humidifier, but not quite up to it's 2600 sq. ft. rating
Lot of misinformation about this unit. Sure, it's cheaply made. However, I've had no issues with mine and it's easy to use. I fill it with a 1 gallon milk just and the fill line is clearly marked on the wick frame. 3 gallons of water will last on high in my house for about 10 hours at 20F outside. I think I need another humidifier, but honestly, I don't want condensation on the windows either, so perhaps its OK. Filling is simple, you turn the unit off, and fill through the air outlet vent. To turn the unit off, I haven't figured this out. The unit will not turn off by pressing the button. If you hold it, it goes into child lock mode. I use a wifi plug and just turn it off. I would prefer if the unit automatically turned back on when you reapplied power though, since I would prefer to use my own humidistat. I ordered a model with manual controls, and that's not what I got, so I'm taking off a star.

Works well
Works like a charm. With gas heat, the air is very dry. This product puts humidity into our 2,000 sq ft and also makes the house feel much warmer.

Electronic Controls = Cheap Junk
I was (justifiably) skeptical of electronic controls for a device like this, that traditionally used simple, robust, electro-mechanical devices. I din’t want the electronics, but it seems that’s all that’s made today.Pro: Nice size, not too large, but large enough to incorporate a fan that can run at a lower rpm so it produces less noise than smaller fans that run at high rpm. Super easy to fill, since you just fill through the output vent. The Con: electronic controls that don’t respond when you change them. Turning on you press the fan speed knob. Not intuitive - when I first tried to turn on I kept spinning the knob thinking it was a traditional volume rheostat. Nope - it’s digital, so you press to turn on, then rotate for fan speed. Even still, turning on I had to press the button several times before it turned on. Is there just a delay between pressing the button and it turning on, because of the cheap electronics?Speaking of fan speed - when it worked - you turn the knob and wait for the electronics to decide you’ve changed the fan speed. This causes a delay of 1 to several seconds, so you’re not sure if it recognized your input. When it didn’t respond to my fan speed changes, I tried to turn it off. Nope…it’s not recognizing that either. Ok, I’ll wait 30 seconds, maybe it’s still contending with too many inputs. Try again. Nope, still running. Ok, what if I hold the power button down for 10 seconds? Nothing. Oh, wait, it just changed the fan speed I asked for 40 seconds ago, but still won’t turn off.Had to unplug it to turn it off. Sigh.

A must for well water
I had an evaporative humidifier from this mfg. years ago and used it continuously during the cold winters here. Finally wore it out. With untreated well water, you can't just mist it in the air as minerals settle all over everything. Plus there's a concern over bacteria from the raw well water developing in the tank. These evaporative type humidifiers with large wicks and Aircare water treatment overcome these issues. Buy several spare wicks as it doesn't take long to develop a mineral buildup, which blocks airflow. My water is high in dissolved minerals so cleaning and wick replacement is every 2 months in winter.

Do not Recommend
The plastic case/frame is very flimsy and difficult to get aligned after placing/replacing the wick filter. The water depth gauge is almost impossible to see unless you shine a light down into the water tank. It operates in a 1008 square foot room and has not reached 45% humidity in five days...runs continuously! The wick are very expensive for a paper honey comb type, $19 each. I will not recommend this humidifier.

Made my rooms good and moist!
We've got a dry room with guitars in it. Guitars hate dry rooms and need things to be nice and moist. And this humidifier does the trick. The humidistat is pretty accurate, and "level 1" was generally good enough to keep things at the right level (around 14% up to 45%). Fan level 2 does have a weird resonance that is pretty annoying but level 1 and 3 are fine. It moves a lot of air/water. Fresh wicks are essential - and please consider using the anti-mold treatments for the water.
