how does it compare to a george foreman grills

We love this grill, with just two of us it is just the right size. We did have the Foreman, but it was to big and I really didn't like the drip pan in front it moved to easy. We had our first Hamilton for 5 years and used it a lot, now we have another.

Is the grill part made of plastic? where is the product made at? is it made in the u.s.?

Grill part is not plastic. Plastic would melt. Check manufacturing company for where it is made. We use this appliance 2-4 times per week. It cleans up very well in the dishwasher. We have to empty grease from the removable tray before putting it in the dishwasher. I recommend it!

Are flat plates available for this?

To my knowledge, the answer is NO. But this is incredible for what you CAN make on it.

I have used the grill daily. The non-stick coating has worn off the plates. Can I get replacement plates?

I'm sorry but I am unable to answer. I returned the grill shortly after purchasing it because it was not what I expected and a part was missing. Hopefully, someone else can answer. Or, you could contact Hamilton Beach and ask them directly.
