MSA 815444 Advantage 200 LS Series Half-Mask Respirator - Size: Medium, Single Neckstrap, Twin-Port Reusable Gas Mask, MSA Advantage Cartridge Compatible

I had a respirator identical to this for 30 years. I got it when I was doing a kitchen renovation and I used it for dust. The respirator worked fine but eventually the plastic got a bit stickey. No surprise here in South Florida when temperatures in the garage can rise to the 90's and above.I like that the filters can be replaced with fresh ones and there are several different kinds, depending on what you are trying to filter out of the air. The straps hold the maks on securely and allow you to wear full face protection comfortably.

Great fit

This is the third respirator of this make and model. The major improvement is the clasp that allows you to clip the neck snap behind your neck rather than stretching the elastic stap over your head to get the mask in place. I have had to replace the elastic straps on the previous masks because after a year because the strap lost its elasticity and would not keep the mask sealed over my face.

I am primarily of Scottish decent & as a result my head is very, very large. So I bought Large first, but it was far too large. I then bought a Medium & even it was somehow too large for my hat size 8-1/8 head (that is enormous = All my fitted hats have to be custom made for me...). This Small size fits better for longer... until my sweat & the condensation from my breath cause it to also slide out of place, forcing me to tighten & tighten & tighten it to try and have it stay in place. Because the interior of it is a slick silicone like material, any moisture causes it to slide out of place & the complete absence of a filter over the exhalation flap & vent means I am frequently put at risk by this respirator. I do like it, but that slick material allows it to slide out of place putting the user in danger if any moisture at all touches the material where it touches your (or my) face resulting in my very much disliking the threats it causes to my safety & as a result my life.

I could smell anything but fresh clean air while spray painting using the GMA cartridge.

I hate sanding. Who doesn't? With this faceplate and the MSA Flexfilter P100 filters it is no longer damaging to my lungs. This faceplate is very light and very comfortable. The filters mentioned are also very light and low profile so they do not hinder my vision. I have tried many other dust masks and nothing comes close. I can sand for hours and hardly be aware that I am wearing this respirator. At the end of the day I no longer cough and I am not blowing dust out my nose. Also, I wear eyeglasses and have no issues like I have had with other masks. One more thing: the low profile filters fit under a full face shield which I sometimes wear when routing by hand.

The mask is 1 to 1 as the one on the pictures. No filters, just the mask! This is one of the best mask I've used so far. My last one lasted nearly a decade with light use, so I am happy I finally got a replacement. Just quick advice, monitor your orders. Few places advertise this type of mask (MSA 815444), but would send you MSA SWX00320 instead. The SWX00320 have inferior straps with flimsy seams, and it looks less reliable. This, of course, is my personal opinion.
