Great at first snow but big drawbacks..........
I loved these when I first got them, nice fit, snug, keeps the cold out.I'd have easily given them 5/5 stars and indeed I did before the first big storm, then I wore them for days and found them amazingly bad. Here's the scoop, they are absolutely fantastic snow boots, they really do their job and keep your feet warm. But walking on other flat surfaces, slightly damp marble or smooth cement - was a total catastrophe. It was like being on ice.I don't know what it is with the soles but they were hydroplaning horribly, total loss of traction, absolutely horrible. If you're out in the woods or natural grounds and earthy materials all the time, no problems. If you live in the city and travel diversely from pavement to subway platforms to different buildings, avoid these like the plague. You will slip, and even walking carefully with great caution, you will slip.On that note, I regret buying these, approach with caution.

So far so good. Initial impressions --
My rating is a bit preemptive at this time, as I have yet to wear this boots in the elements. Still, my initial impressions are positive. I was worried that a mens 9 would be too small, as it is a winter style boot with padding. I wear a mens 9 in most shoes, and usually a 10 in winter boots. So far, with one pair of winter socks, these feel snug in all the right places yet still allow wiggle room for the toes. And in addition, the boot seems to have been made rather well. I do hope that they hold up.It might be a while until I'm able to give them their proper due, as it's near 80 degrees outside. But, again, I'm impressed so far, and am anxious to try them out in the sloppy, bitter cold. Time will tell. For those wondering about size -- I'm a mens 9 and ordered a 9 on here. It fits quite well with one pair of winter socks on. Also, keep in mind that they'll wear in and that the laces allow for breathing room.UPDATEWell, it's a double edged sword having such weather and waterproof boots: on one side, you're getting the benefit of keeping moisture out and on the other, they're so solidly good at keeping moisture out, that your body's sweat has nowhere to go. I tested these out in upper 20s and 30s, and they work really well. and I have yet to have a puddle or spilled water seep into the shoe; however, as I use these as work boots, my feet sweat. After several hours of being outside, it becomes noticeable. I will definitely not say that this is a complaint nor does it detract from the boot. I can definitely say that these are some of the better winter boots I have. Even with sweat in the boot, they're still keeping my feet relatively warm. In addition, I DID order another pair of these in a half size smaller in hopes that they will fit a bit more snug and thus I'll have less of an air pocket in the toe area.I definitely recommend for active people that will be in and around the 30s and 40s.

Classic cold weather waterproof boots, unbeatable for what they are
Eleven things you need to know about these Sorel 1964 Premium T Canvas Boots1) This is a harsh weather boot. It's treated canvas and rubber, and it's waterproof. It's felt lined and it's very warm, even in very cold conditions. This is a boot suitable for use in places like Minnesota, Canada, and upstate New York...that is, places where you get a lot of snow, and where you need a boot that won't leak and will keep your feet warm. You can, of course, wear these in places it doesn't snow--the boot won't complain. But you may find that these boots are too warm to use as kicks on the streets of San Diego or Florida, even during a torrential downpour.2) This boot isn't very stylish. Well, perhaps, it's stylish in an old jeans, flannel shirt, arctic cap and my boots sort of way. But you will want to change these out if you wear them to a formal office. You wouldn't want to wear these on a nice date. Etc. They are what they are: Function over style. And that's kind of chic in and of itself. But it's not chic in a "ooh...nice looking boots" way.3) This model boot has been made for nearly half a century. So they are classic in a sense.4) These boots were once made in Canada. Not any longer. Bowing to financial realities (like almost every mass market shoe maker), Sorel now has these made in China. The quality is still good, however.5) Everyone who lives in a place where you get appreciable snow should own a pair of these. Your stylish boots are for when the snow has cleared and the skies are bright. These are the work boots when you need to clear the snow, or walk a mile to somewhere in bad weather. Think of these as the boots that save your stylish boots.6) These run slightly long and wide (probably the equivalent of a EE or even EEEE for most shoes). They are intentionally sized this way to accommodate a thick sock. They are not svelte looking--think fashionable duck feet.7) The lower part of these shoes is fairly stiff and heavy rubber--and will remain that way. These will never be the most comfortable shoes you own for simple walking.8) This same design is available with a leather (rather than treated canvas) upper, here Sorel Men's 1964 Premium T Boot , for basically the same price. The leather doesn't make the boot any more attractive, and it makes the upper stiffer and less comfortable (at least until broken in, although arguably forever). I prefer the canvas. Everything else written here about these boots applies to both models.9) The soles are ribbed and are fine for snow. They are OK, but not incredible, when walking on slick ice.10) These shoes have very little arch support. The fit is very similar to a traditional sneaker like Converse high tops. If you need arch support, you will need to buy inserts.11) Buy them. They will last for years.

Poor quality construction, looks nice though.
My first order was defective, crack in rubber toe of boot. Replacement order was delivered used, full of pet hair and the laces were changed to red which come as an extra set with the boots. Third pair looked good but the removable liner was glued in on the left side. The right side was hard to get out but it did come out. I think they put they liner in while the glue was still wet during construction. I can see black glue on the liner when I try to pull it out. Need to contact Amazon to return. These boots also run small. Size 10 felt the same as my old Sorel Big Horn Caribou boots Size 9.

Outstanding boot for hunting mountains.
Used to haul a mule deer out of a stream. Worked exceptionally well and maintained traction. Was at ~10000ft at time I got the deer, water was frigid, but my feet were dry in these. Also, I was impressed with how low the heel to toe drop is. Make it very comfy to wear. Awesome boots!

Really great boots. Whilst they are quite expensive
Really great boots. Whilst they are quite expensive, when you buy Sorel you get what you pay for and these are top quality.I used these on a recent trip to the mountains where the temps where -7 and they kept my feet exceptionally warm and dry.The only thing to note is that if you wear them in warmer temps the fact that they are so well insulated means that your feet do sweat.....but that is a minor consideration.Overall excellent boots.

Good value
They are definitely waterproof. They are warm. The soles are thin and there is not a great deal of cushioning other than the felt liner.
