I bought this case for my IPad mini with retina display. I have had three different IPads over the last few years. Original IPad, IPad 3 and IPad mini. On each I pad I have tried multiple different cases before finding one that I could live with.On my first IPad I settled on the original Apple rubber case. It provided really good protection. I sold my original IPad after three years and it looked like it came out of the box yesterday. It provided good grip and made the IPad easy to handle. The original Apple IPad case did not look very good by it was a good performer.On my IPad 3 I tried the Apple "smart" case and was very disappointed. It did not provide any protection for the back of the case and when carrying the IPad pinched between the thumb and fingers (The way we humans do) the magnets would break free and the case would slide off dropping the IPad to the ground. Also if you tried to use the IPad while standing up, and wanted to fold the case behind the IPad the magnets would break free. So you had to remove the case and put it somewhere so that you could hold the IPad with one hand and touch the screen with the other. This was the worst case I ever tried.I also tried the Logitech keyboard case. It did not provide very good protection, but it did act as a really good stand for the IPad. I ended up getting a Velcro strap to wrap around the pad and keyboard to prevent the two from separating when carrying them. I used the keyboard a lot but the feature of the Logitech keyboard that I like the most was that stand. It was even usable while standing up something you could not easily do with the apple smart cover.The Apple smart case is a big improvement over the Apple IPad "smart" cover. It was the first case that I purchased for my IPad mini. When I folded the cover to make a stand on a table, most of the time the iPad would end up falling flat on the table. So the search continued.Next I tried a mEdge folio that I found at Walmart. It was only $20 and made stable stand, but it was bulky and felt cheap. I used this for a few months because it was so much better than the Apple smart case.I have only had the Kavaj case for 24 hours but so far I am very pleased with it. The quality of the leather is outstanding. Fit and finish that I have not seen on any of the other iPad cases. The cover folds over and makes a stable stand so that is good. Provides a good grip while carrying. Everyone that has seen it has said I can't believe that this was only $45.Best IPad case so far.

I really like this case; it arrived promptly and was thoughtfully packaged. I would have given it a half star more if that option was available. I didn't rate it 5 stars because the cutouts for speakers and the charger are slightly off, covering a portion of one speaker. After working with the case as the product video demonstrated I was able to insert the charging cable smoothly. The flap on the back used to enable the iPad to stand is a bit difficult to use unless one has really long fingernails or something to pry it up. Also after using the stand the case needs to be realigned sometimes for all of the cutouts to be properly placed. All in all this is an excellent product, light, stylish in its simplicity, very soft leather.

I purchased a total of five cases for my new iPad mini over a period of the last few weeks and had high hopes for many of them. I finally returned them all because none of them could compare to the features or quality of this case. I want to protect my investment but I also want a slim design that is great for travel and daily use.I am am still getting used to this case as I have only had it for a week but I have to give it five stars because of the quality and the incredible customer focus of this company. This case looks and feels very rich and supple. The leather smells great and the fit and finish is very simple and I love the fact that even though you slide the iPad into the holder the sides are very small and do not interfere with the mini in any way at all. So much better than any other leather (or faux leather) case out there.I did watch all the videos on this case several times and one does have to "train" the case to stand up and so far, I have no complaints and it is breaking in nicely. The more I use it the more I like it and am looking forward to taking it on trips on both my motorcycle and my upcoming bicycling tour in SpainONE MORE THING. Customer experience - WOW! The day it was delivered I received an email telling me about the company and providing me with a website for any customer support needed. Now that was great. ***UPDATE***Nachdem ich eine doch recht negative Bewertung der Ledertasche Berlin von Kavaj für das iPad mini verfassen musst, kontaktierte mich Kavaj und bot einen Austausch der bemängelten Tasche an. Hier nun die neue Rezesion:Das Case sitzt perfekt und auch die Verarbeitung ist über jeden Zweifel erhaben. Sämtliche Zugänge sind passgenau und lassen sich wie gewohnt bedienen. Ebenfalls ist die Qualität der Tasche dem Preis angemessen. Wie bei Leder üblich sieht das Case auch nach Benutzung sehr gut aus und entwickelt den typischen Ledercharakter. Es handelt sich dabei ja um ein Naturprodukt.Die Möglichkeit das iPad aufzustellen ist gegeben, allerdings nicht sehr standfest. Dies führt allerdings zu keiner Abwertung meinerseits, da es je nach Untergrund mal besser mal schlechter steht. Auf einer längeren Zugfahrt konnte ich ohne zusätzliche Fixierung problemlos arbeiten.Mir gefällt vor allem, dass das iPad mini kaum aufträgt durch das Case. Es bleibt sehr griffig und handlich, zudem bietet das Case einen ansprechenden Schutz vor Stürzen und auch in einer weiteren Tasche ist es gut geschützt. Lediglich der verbaute Magnet könnte ein bisschen kräftiger sein. Um das Display zu schützen, sollte man beim Transport in einer weiteren Tasche sicherstellen, dass keine Münzen oder andere "kratzenden" Gegenstände in der Tasche sind.Von mir eine volle Empfehlung! Das iPad 5 wird definitiv auch wieder von Kavaj geschützt!Danke!***********************************************************************************************************************************************************************************Alte Rezesion (nicht mehr gültig!):Ich besitze die Tasche Berlin von Kavay in schwarz und Cognac für mein iPad 4 und war sowohl von Qualität, Design und vor allem von der Passgenauigkeit beeindruckt... Also war es klar, dass für mein iPad mini wieder nur Kavay in Frage kommt.Was ist denn nur passiert?!? Die Nähte sehen aus, als ob eine Katze daran geknabbert hätte, die Schnittkanten sind krumm und das schlimmste: Sie passt nicht! Sämtliche Aussparungen passen null! Die Camera kann nicht genutzt werden, der Kippschalter liegt in den Tiefen der Tasche und muss blind mit dem Fingernagel erfühlt werden, der Einschaltknopf wird PERMANENT gedrückt, sodass die Tasche nicht zu nutzen ist. Lediglich der Lightning-Port ist beinahe zu nutzen, wenn man die Tasche ein bisschen verzieht.Liebe Kavay Herren! Was ist denn nur passiert? Ich erwarte bei einem Naturprodukt wie Leder keinen Klon meiner iPad 4 Tasche, aber mir scheint, dass Sie wohl kein iPad mini Dummy beim Designmuster zur Verfügung hattet. Soll ich euch mein iPad und eure Tasche mal zukommen lassen?Fazit: Hätte ich noch ein Rückgaberecht für die Tasche, wäre diese bereits auf dem Rückweg... Traurig!

This is a lovely product. It's well made, of good quality leather, and it fits the iPad mini perfectly, with holes for sockets, switches and camera lenses in exactly the right places. It has a magnet in the front cover that wakes the iPad mini up when you open it, and puts it to sleep again when you close it. It feels nice to hold and it also functions as a 2-position stand. It's discreet and if you need to carry your iPad mini in public places most people will think you're just carrying a leather covered diary rather than an expensive electronic item. The price is good considering the quality, and it's cheaper than Apple's own offering which only covers the screen. This product provides all round protection to the iPad mini. The item arrived in good time (on the same day that my iPad mini arrived, coincidentally), and I've even had a follow up phone call from Kavaj in Germany to check that I was happy with the product!
