Such a fun kit to introduce toddlers to measuring
I was introduced to this product by a friend. We had a home-school event and she brought this kit and another learning resources kit for the toddlers to experiment with. It was so fun to have these cups and measuring scale for the little kids. The quality is so nice and it's just so cute. One downside that we experienced is that I let my kids play with the kit in the bathtub. They brought the blue scale in when I wasn't looking, and the sticker came off in the water.

Smart, durable and fun pieces for imaginative and curious minds.
This is a colorful, durable set for budding scientists and imaginative minds. The pieces are cleverly designed to demonstrate several key concepts like fractions, volume and weight and aside from the scale, the increments of measure are true to life. The plastic is a thick, heavyweight, durable material with rounded edges and a solid feel (in contrast to the primary science lab set that we also own which has a thinner, flimsier plastic pieces). My preschooler and toddler play with this set regularly from measuring out sensory materials like beans, rice, water, etc to using it in pretend cooking and even in the bath. The weakest part of the set is the scale, which is not sensitive enough to really demonstrate significant differences and the use of colors as arbitrary weight measurements. The project cards included with the set are laminated and colorful with a nice addition of visual images. Suggested projects include homemade bubbles, color mixing exploration and trail mix recipe among a few others. I was happy to learn that Learning resources provides links to free additional project cards on their website. As other reviewers have pointed out, the ingredients for the projects are not included in this set.

Promote Creativity and Scientific Thinking for Years to Come
I bought this for my niece nearly 4 years ago (she was 3 at the time) because I wanted to expose her to science at a very young age. She LOVED it then, and today, 4 years later, she and her younger sister still play with it ALL THE TIME. At first, it was great in water tables, sand pits, etc., and today she uses it to conduct her own science experiments - some legitimate and some that are really just adult-sanctioned messes. When younger, I would perform the experiments for her, just to watch her amazement. We go through almost all of the experiments every year, and it's amazing to watch as she grasps the science more and more each time. Despite the 4 years of constant play and 100s of cycles through the dishwasher, each item is still in great shape.(Just came across this item while looking for a new science kit and figured 4 years of play certainly warrants a positive review.)

Well organized and thoughtful toy!
We just un boxed this toy and it is so cool. I did not know that it came with all the different types of recipes with color coded instructions. The measuring cups all match to make a whole, and the scale is color coded as well. This will be so fun when we make sensory activities. I am planning on making moon sand and now I can have my two year old help. I think we are going to get a lot of use and fun out of this toy. All the contents are really well made and seem like they will last a long time. The scale is the only part I worry about but we will see. LOVE this for learning and pure and simple play.

Very entertaining
My little girl almost two years old loves it. She doesn’t get the math part at this age but just scooping and pouring is a blast for her. We started with dry rice but that was a little difficult to manage so we’re using pinto beans now. Eventually I’ll take the set outside and use water. Definitely something she’ll be able to continue to use as she gets older and can understand the math concepts behind it. Only thing is the scale doesn’t seem to work very well at all but I dunno if it’s meant to be for show or if it’s just broken.

Good for learning number values, could be better designed for storage
Nice toy for playing and measuring and learning number values. It could be better designed. It would be awesome if the cups stacked together inside each other to equal the value of the largest bowl, like if the quarter and half cups all fit into the 1 cup, the 1 cup into the 2 cup and the 2cup into the 4cup, etc. Also, the scale is a little on the junky side. it would be better if it actually worked with real weight values.

Learning Play
My 3 year old asks to play with this at least a few times every week. Partly because he gets to make a bit of a mess but he will measure and pour and experiment for longer with this than most other activities. Big fans of the Learning Resources toys. They are great quality. Kids love them because they are fun, mom lives because they are learning while they play!
