My Heart Is Like a Zoo Board Book

Imaginative and Fun Book
Although this is a reading book regarding emotions, every year the Kindergarten class at my two daughters' school uses this book to do Valentine's Day projects for their parents. Each animal in the book represents a particular emotion, and the animal itself is made up of various sizes of hearts. Each animal has its own individual page, and has its own emotion coupled with a rhyming word. For example, Crafty as a Fox, or Cool as a Penguin. Very ingenious and imaginative. The students simply pick an animal out, cut out their hearts, and assemble it according to the picture. When my oldest daughter did her project she was so excited regarding the different animals that were made out of hearts she barely took a breath telling me all about it after school. She told me I had to immediately go to the store and buy the book, because she needed to make all the animals in the book for Grandma. Plus she said the rhyming was fun. So I bought the book.It is an adorable book, and well worth the money if you have young children or even young grandchildren. I would buy this book again, and in fact I am keeping this book. Someday I will be sharing this book with any grandchildren I may have, because it is well worth keeping.

Outstanding
What a great board book! This is a favorite at my house and will probably be my baby shower go-to from now on!The bright, bold colors are eye catching. The artwork is simple in that it is made up almost entirely of hearts, which is lovely to look at and provides a seeking/counting game and arts and crafts inspiration for older children. The rhyme and rhythm make it a joy to read-- seriously, just try it! "Brave as a lion, thoughtful as an owl, peaceful as a portly walrus lounging on a towel." The emotions, character traits, and physical descriptions are great vocab builders, and baby is captivated listening to it and looking at the pages. We can't get enough of this one!

Cute Book
This is a very sweet book! Each page contains a simile comparing a heart/love to an animal. The illustrations are made up of hearts, which is very fun. I read this book to my special needs preschool class, and it was a bit over their heads. It would be great for children in the primary grades. It could spark a lot of great writing and art projects!

Just like the hardcover
We bought this as a baby shower gift as we love this book. We have the hardcover version, but we bought the board book version as a gift and it was transfered beautifully. 10/10 recommend for little ones that may be a little rough on paper pages.

Cute book that inspires creativity
This book features pictures of animals made out of hearts. Younger children will enjoy looking at the colorful animals on each page. A older children can count the hearts or use them as a pattern to make their own heart animals. I purchased this book after seeing it at library story time and the kids could not get enough.

Adorable book
I came across this book by chance, and bought as an impulse purchase. It is absolutely adorable. We don't have any other books by this author, but I've added them to our wish list.I bought the book for our "newly two" thinking he'd enjoy the pictures. (The "almost four" is much more into anything with wheels, so I wasn't expecting him to be too into this.) Well, turns out it's a hit with both. There are some words that weren't as familiar to the kids, but we've explained what they mean, or given synonyms in explanation. What a great and easy way to teach new words.Adorable, and great for ages 18 months - 4 years or so.
