Keeps my English Bulldog's skin happy
Give it a try, it might be what you are looking for. I have waited almost a year before I gave a review just to make sure I believed in the product. So here is my backstory: I have a 3yo English bulldog who loves to live outside in Nebraska and has horrible skin issues. He naturally has a nasty yeasty smell. As a 1yo, we started him on depo shots because he chews his feet and gets hot spots. It helped some. By 2, it wasn't doing much, and he was getting face infections, so the vet put him on Apoquel. It was a game changer, his skin barely had a smell to it, and he seemed less itchy. Now, by this time, I was also bathing him twice a week with medicated shampoo, shaving him in the summer (to help air get to his skin better), and washing his face daily with medicated wipes. Things were going ok, but he had that rust colored fur on his face and feet, and had started chewing his feet again. The vet decided to give him depo shots as well, but they didn't seem to help much. We saw an ad for dog probiotics and I looked into ones that were for dogs with itchy skin. I chose this one, and I am extremely happy with it. The rust color is now totally gone from his face and feet, he has not chewed his feet since I put him on it. He did get a few small hot spots one time, but I hadn't given him a bath as soon as I should have. I only wash his face once in between bathing him and he has not gotten any face infections. He is still on the Apoquel, but I am not taking him off that after experiencing what he was like before. I can not attest to how every dog will react, but try it, and give it time, he didn't change overnight. It takes awhile for these probiotics to work. I have used several bottles now, I have noticed he gets a little diarrhea for a couple days about 2 weeks into a new bottle, or its a fluke that has happened 3 times now. I have definitely seen a difference in him and will continue using it. His skin is much happier and so is he.

Hero of a product for senior dog, unexplained diarrhea
An incredible product! My senior shepherd mix has been on this for almost 2 years. She was 13 when she started having unexplained diarrhea. We ran all of the tests and changed her diet in multiple ways and everything came back negative or didn't work. Finally, I decided OK maybe her microbiome needs support with a probiotic. The bacteria in our guts are essential and maybe her age or an undiagnosed issue had changed the way the bacteria in her gut were functioning. We put her on this product over others on the market because of the multi strain composition. Each type of bacteria provides a potential function our dog was most likely missing. It didn't make sense to give her a treatment with only 1 strain and 1 function when we could give her a pill with multiple strains and functions. After a single day on this pill back in 2023 she was a changed dog. Her stools were solid, she excreted a crazy mucus layer that I didn't expect, and she was more relaxed and comfortable than she had been in 6 months. We have kept her on this twice daily for the last 2 years and swear by its ability to promote healthy gut conditions. Definitely keep this product cold in the fridge. It is probably also oxygen sensitive so by the end of the bottle the last 1/3 seems to be less effectivenand we double up pills. But what a hero of a product. I'm sure this has contributed to her great state of health now at 15 years old where she is still so active and loving life.

It Works For My Dog!
Note That This Is In Capsule Form!!I adopted a young dog from the animal shelter 6 weeks ago, and the poor thing had constant loose stools/diarrhea despite all my efforts. I used several rounds of cooked rice and chicken blended in the blender with only temporary success.I have purchased 3 types of probiotics to experiment with here on Amazon, and this is the first to be tested. Within 24 hours he was much improved. It has been a week now, and although his stools are not totally solid/dry, they are much better. He has some skin irritations which have not changed with the use of this product, but perhaps that condition will improve with time. The capsule form is messy to give him in peanut butter, and his appetite is inconsistent, ie: he may or may not finish a certain amount of food he is given at any one time. A powdered form of probiotic sprinkled onto his food might lead to inconsistent administration of the "good stuff" unless I mixed it into a small amount of soft food first. I simply press two capsules into a teaspoon of peanut butter and he swallows it all whole. Of course, Pill Pockets would work too.UPDATE #1: Use caution when handling this product--It looks like any other white capsule. I take an almost identical probiotic myself, and this morning I mixed them up and mistakenly took the VertriScience! This afternoon I found myself in the middle of the street licking myself and a car came around the corner and almost hit me!Update #2I purchased 3 probiotics from Amazon for my dogs [3 pooches; 2 with moderate to severe diarrhea]:VetriScience Laboratories Mega ProbioticDoggone Best Products ProbioticsNucleOtics ProbioticsVertiScience made a definite improvement, but the capsules were difficult as one of my dogs will spit them out or did not eat them if mixed in the food. Pill Pockets are expensive, and peanut butter is messy. The other option is to open them up and sprinkle the contents on the food. But why then have a capsule, which is an extra cost?Next I used the Doggone Best, which is a loose powder. The digestive health continued without change. I only used about 2/3 of the 8 ounce jar before experimenting with NucleOtics.NucleOtics has a lot of yeast, and is only 2.12 ounces. Again, a loose powder with a tiny scoop. The loose stools returned, but not bad as before starting, but bad enough that I went back to The Doggone Best.My conclusion is that Doggone Best is the choice for me, although VetriScience is a good product.. Doggone offers good value for an effective product. The drawback is the scoops in Doggone and NucleOtics are tiny—easily lost in the jar, and a lot of powder ends up on one’s hands. I suggest that you get an idea of how much product is right for your dog—using the scoops provided a few times, then toss them and simply sprinkle the powder on the food. Adding some water or canned food to kibble will help it stick and be consumed by your dog[s].Overall, mark me a big believer in probiotics for dogs!
