Q: are there two seperate cases? one for the dvds which does inside of the one that holds the art work?

Sort of. There is a plastic sleeve with a flap that everything fits inside, including the DVD artwork when folded in half. The second piece holds 2 DVDs and slips inside of the plastic sleeve and artwork. These are great; I was able to consolidate a huge DVD cabinet into two small boxes. Love them.

Q: What's the quality like? i'm looking to move my huge dvd collection to plastic sleeves, but i don't want something flimsy.

They are heavy duty. I also have a large movie collectikn and was able to put them all in the sleeves and they helped to reduce the clutter and have them nocely organized in smaller boxes.

Q: I'm having a hard time finding a baskets that will fit these width-with (most are just a couple cm too narrow. Any recommendations?

Only issue is they are very lightweight. Basically covered cardboard. So you have to pick them up with hands under the bottom for support just as if you had put them in a shoebox. They look nice and I am more than willing to treat them delicately for how well they work for me.

Q: Do these scratch the discs?

For those who store both discs in the case, so they scratch then?
