Great for Lionfish
I buy these all the time for lionfish hunting in the Caribbean and give them to my dive guides to keep hunting. They do splay out a bit, but can be pushed back a little. Barbs do break/wear, but that’s expected.

Great penetration on contact and spine in tips hod fish
We use these on Hawaiian sling in Caribbean for shooting Lionfish. Our diving buddies on the boats love this tip and we have not taken one home yet...a nice gift for a great dive trip. There are 6mm and 8mm sizes so be careful of that, as we have 8mm and needed to return 6mm and reorder...this time 3 sets! and probably more in the future...

For Lionfish only!
Works great on lionfish, stuns and holds them easily every single time. Does not work on game fish such as grouper, snapper, hogfish, etc. They will thrash and get off every time as there are basically no barbs on this. For them you need a flapper tip. This three prong has held up well, and does not corrode from the salt water! Would highly recommend as a lionfish slayer! Much better than the 5 prong models marketed for the same purpose.

Barbs definitely help
Switched from trident to paralyzer.Heard great things about these and no regret so far.My buddy got a barbless one, but mine was more securely spearing the fish, it seems.Arrived super sharp, bent and deformed easily at first use, yet I should be able to fix it quickly.

Threads start way up the shaft.
Seems strong and well made, but the female threads start way of the hole. I only got it on with 4 threads. I took the bottom to my grinder and got 8 threads to bit. Should work well though.
