Great for my application, make sure you don't overload it.
Exactly what I needed. I have some PoE cameras in a sensitive area that occasionally need to be turned off. This secondary switch is connected to the uplink port on my main NVR switch (uplink to uplink) and is switched through a Z Wave switch, so cameras can be switched off when I don't want others viewing them remotely.Specialized needs aside, this is a great way to add a few PoE ports where needed. It seems well constructed and is well laid out, and does exactly what it is supposed to do. I have seen the comments about the RJ45 ports not being "solid" but that was not the case with the 8-port unit I got. Watch your power budget; it's a maximum of 30W per port but only 96W for the entire unit. This shouldn't be a problem for most fixed camera applications, but too many PTZ cameras could swamp this thing. That information is clearly included in the product description so I don't see it as a negative, just something to know.I like this product a lot and will freely recommend. I haven't seen anything else quite like it.

Great product.
This is one of the only few switches I could find that had a dedicated input for internet/network connectivity. I could have purchased a regular 8 port switch, but I have exactly 8 computers to set up and the dedicated input is what I needed. Now I will not be using it to supply power to any PoE devices/cameras so it will not be used for what it is intended for. Build quality is great. Has a decent quality metal build. Hooked up my computers and they all work/play games with no connection issues on my network. All other PoE switches that had true 8 ports were way more expensive, ranging from $100-$240. So I find its price to be reasonable.

Good addition to my Lorex security system
I bought this to consolidate the 6 PoE video feeds into my Lorex security system. Now I have just one cable feed thru the walls to the NVR.I got this unit specifically for the high speed connection each port provides. I added a 50’ cat-7 cable for the feed from this box to the NVR.This proved to be an effective, economical addition to my setup. One other point - my Lorex system supports up to 8 devices. Most other switches had only 8 ports - meaning one would be tied up as the connection to the Lorex NVR. This box has 8 POE ports AND a separate port for the connection to the DVR. So, for the features and the price, this box is a great value.

Case gets pretty warm to the touch!!
I bought this Amcrest Gigabit Uplink 9-Port Poe+ Ethernet Switch mainly to use with a number of POE cameras. The unit was installed in the garage about 100 feet from the router. Initially, I was using this unit for expansion purposes. However, I have since decided to use a smaller switch and save this one for use with the NVR. One thing I have noted was that the case gets pretty hot so I am NOT convinced this unit would be happy in an attic or even safe. I decided to use another POE switch in its place and after two weeks of working in the garage, the new switch does not get even really warm to the touch. I did register the Amcrest Switch for warranty purposes and purchased an extended warranty to protect against failure. However, if you register please be prepared for weekly sales announcements. I didn't open a ticket to Amcrest since getting hot is NOT a failure and didn't want to waste time on it.

Absolute Best Bang for your Buck!
I'm a blind I.T. guy - yeah that sounds more wierd than it really is I promise - anyways I just migrated a small offices telephone system from an old NEC Aspire PBX to a cloud based VoIP solution. Even though almost every IP phone has an ethernet passthrough to put the PC on the LAN as well I'm a stickler for performance. For this reason I wanted to setup a VLAN for the phones and another VLAN for the PC's to keep bandwidth useage seperated as much as possible.Well since I already had to go replace all of the old CAT 3 I Figured I'd look into my equipment stash and setup some POE for the phones too. I seriously hate how people have 37 things plugged in under their desks!!!I was going to pay way too much money and pass that wretched expense on to my customer like anyone would do right? A buddy of mine suggested these to me and I am so greatful that he did!!!These are literally plug and play, you can plug into an 10/10/1000 ethernet port or a fiber channel, yeah it supports fiber channels dude! You can spend 10 times as much and only get 10/100 support on an ethernet cable jack...The price, ease of use and quality is literally astounding!Oh, yeah they're way more compact than I had imagined too. For some reason I thought they'd be more bulky but they're super slick.I didn't really have anywhere to mount them on my rack, but I just cut a piece of angle steel to fit across and used the little clips on the back to hold them.I used 2 of the 9 port POE switches, 18 1 foot long cables and a 24--port patch panel and the end result looks amazing!!!If you need POE this is literally the best investment for your buck amigos!

Ran in my observatory (not 100% protected from elements) for years through -30F temps
Not once in the 2 years I've had this switch have I needed to reboot it. It kept running perfectly through -30F temperatures to 100 degrees with 90% humidity. Every time there was a hiccup, it ended up not being this device. I have PoE cameras hooked up to it, telescopes, PoE wifi access points, and not one issue. Love this thing.
