don't the handles and lid covers get hot to handle made of metal???

The lids have a cushion on them to prevent them from getting hot. I never was aware of the handles becoming hot. A wonderful product.

Does the lid hold in steam while Steaming vegetables (with a steamer basket) if the vents on the lid are aligned properly ?

Thank you for your interest in our Calphalon products. Yes, it does. As long as the lid holes are not aligned with the spouts of the pan. You may rotate the portion of the strainer lids as it would trap steam and water.

How heavy is the pot without the lid?

Using my scale, it weighs about 1.8 pounds without the lid. My scale does not carry the weight to 2 decimal places.

after years of using a 41/2 qt stock pot teflon wore off inside bottom. still still using it. is it safe ?
