These kind of wall bracket aren't that cheap but they do the job and the thickness is pretty decent: 3/16 I I'm correct. No issues about that do what it supposed to do... I personally would have add more holes to hold the shelf (piece of wood in the majority of case) to hold more fermly the shelf on the bracket
