As described and pictured
I'm not a coin collector, so I didn't buy this for its value. I bought it merely because I'm interested in history and decided to pick up a few coins from various historical civilizations. It's great in that sense, because it has a really nice look with the silver material. As far as "large," it's between a quarter and a half dollar in size, which is indeed pretty large. It is quite thin, though (common for older coins, especially when the civilization which minted them needed to save money by using less metal). My coin is not exactly like the one in the picture, it's actually less worn down and the king pictured is a different man. I'm quite pleased with this coin.

Something Ancient!
I have what could be described as eclectic, crow like, tastes, small shiny things that are interesting, I love them! This coin fits squarely into that theme. It's a nice coin, it is very thin, not like modern coins, but you can tell it's very old based on the stamping. I do like it comes with a certificate of authenticity. I have it displayed on a shelf with similar shiny objects in my collection.

A Silver Sliver of History …
I’m somewhat of a coin collector, but mostly 20th/21st century American and world coins. I find this Sasanian/Sassanid coin intriguing and neat looking and includes a certificate of authenticity and details of the coin.WHAT YOU GETThis coin is silver and is sized somewhere between that of a US quarter and half-dollar. The coin is secured in a folded plastic coin pouch that holds a slot for the coin and another with a card detailing what the coin is: “Ancient Sasanian Empire 224-651 A.D.”. Also included is a separate plastic protector that holds the Certificate of Authenticity that includes the name and signature of the professional numismatist as well as details of each side of coin. A separate card explains a brief history of the empire associated with the coin Sasanian/Sassanid (ancient Iranian empire).OVERVIEWI found this coin to be appealing and intriguing. Coins from ancient societies can be remarkably detailed and that is what makes this coin so interesting. Made of silver, it is relatively flat (pretty much equal to the output of those penny-smashing souvenir makers). There is a nice degree of luster that makes the imprinting stand out, especially considering the age of the coin. While it is hard to distinguish anything specific other than a bust of a “person” is on the “front” and the “back” has an object between two “persons”, the card Authenticity card provides the details: front/obverse = bust of Sasanian King and back/reverse = two priests between a “Zoroastrian fire altar”.Overall, pretty cool piece of ancient history. Everything presented has a professional and authoritative look to it. The numismatist that owns the company also has Roman coins in his inventory … worth a look.
