A (fairly) cheap way to get peace of mind
Bought two of these to monitor our basement. We've had issues with water leaking from faulty plumbing and old water heaters, and this has caused us some problems in the past. It's cost a lot of money because we wouldn't notice water build-up from leaks, which would soak into carpet and lead to mold issues that were pricey to fix.Thankfully, we found these great monitors. We wanted wi-fi connection so we could be notified via text/push notification if any water was detected whatsoever, especially if we were traveling or out of the house. So far, they work great. They are very sensitive and the second they come into contact they beep, and another second after that a notification will come through alerting us which sensor was set off. The best part is that you don't need any expensive hub or infrastructure to set them up - you can literally just buy this sensor, and you're good to go. A lot of other smart water sensors required more equipment to set up (such as Samsung's Smart Things, the Ring water detector kit, etc.).They haven't gone offline yet like other people have complained about. We have a fairly strong Wi-Fi system (a Google mesh network) so I think that has a lot to do with it, but I'm not sure. What I don't like about it:- The sound. Wish the standard beep was louder. It sounds tinny and weak compared to other regular non-smart sensors.- Wish there was an option to just plug it in to an outlet and not worry about battery life. The manual just states to check the battery life every once in a while to make sure it's still alive - not ideal. Wish I could just truly set it and forget it without having to do maintenance.Otherwise, good product. Works great, is sensitive, and reacts well to detecting water and sending out notifications, all for a cheaper price than the other big smart hubs. Highly recommended.

Great out of the box, waiting for a real test
Just set it up and tested it; fairly simple process and it worked right away. The device was smaller than I anticipated, loosely a bit smaller than a hockey puck, but I’m pleased that it is small and not cumbersome. Set up was easy, and I think basic knowledge and confidence of operating a mobile phone is all that is needed. The app is simple and user friendly. I couldn’t give the product five stars yet because first off, I haven’t seen how it responds in a real situation yet, and second, my only complaint is the mounting screw is very small and it took me longer to mount then the 5 minutes it took to set it up technologically.

Test was successful!!!
We ordered one of these as a trial to see if it worked ok before purchasing several of them! Setup was less than 20 min and I highly suggest standing next to your router with your phone and device that sped my process up! Once the setup was complete it was time for a test ! I put a little water on the floor and sure enough it sounded an alarm on the device and also sent my phone a text message. My only wish is that you could have multiple alerts on an account meaning several people could get notified but maybe with future enhancements with software it will come ;)Overall very happy and will be ordering more to help keep us updated of any water in our basement for future emergencied to be avoided!

Wifi connectivity not reliable
Be sure to set up in close proximity to wifi access point. If so, fairly easy set up. Then I tested sensor with water, and phone notification indeed did appear. Finally placed at washer in utility room, maybe 80ft (24M) distance from access point in home on same level, and fails to connect to wifi, which defeats the purpose. Also, android (did not test iPhone) app may need more maturing.Update: Wifi connection not reliable. As a test, I moved the device right next to the wifi access point. The device connection test failed on the Android app. Now it will pass through the add device test, but always fails the connection test. I've tried to re-add device 3 times now. This device is useless.

it failed to detect leaks even when surrounded by water
UPDATE - Even though I returned the sensor and received a full refund, the seller reached out to me and sent a free replacement. I've not used the replacement as I paid $1300 to have the leak issue repaired. However, KUDOS to the Seller - Wasserstein Home and their efforts to stand behind their product. If you have any issues with your sensor, contact them. I believe they will make an honest effort to remedy the issue.--------Major Fail - returned! After major rain in late-Feb, I discovered we had a foundation leak in an inaccessible location behind our furnace. After 15 hours of continuous vacuuming and moping, the leak finally subsided. I decided to buy a leak detector to hopefully get a heads up on any future leak before it got to the carpet again. I purchased a Glentronics BWD-WHA Bassement Watchdog for $12 [5-stars] but also wanted to be warned if away from the home. As such I eventually decided to try the Wasserstein.Initially, setup was very easy and a quick test resulted in a notification on my phone within a minute of the alarm sounding. However, after that the Wasserstein under performed. Another big rain a few day later and the Glentronics sounded, but the Wasserstein did not. (see first image) I figured it was possible the sensor was not flat on the ground. When I pulled it from under the furnace, it did alarm and I received a notification.I couple weeks later I noticed the Wasserstein wasn't detected on my modem and it failed network connection when checked on my phone. I reconnected, but a few days later I noticed it was disconnected again. NOTE- there was never any notification of a disconnect. Then this week after two days of light rain and a third day of heavy rain, the Glentronics went off shortly after I got home. I immediately grabbed myDepstech Wireless Endoscope, WiFi Borescope [5-stars] and checked under the furnace. As you can see, water was already up to the Wasserstein sensor. (pic 2) Over the next five minutes (pics 3-6) it was completely surrounded by water [Glentronics sensor in background]. 15 minutes later the Wasserstein still had not alarmed. I pulled it out and checked the battery. Volt meter indicated 0.9v - the 3v battery was dead in under 30-days with no low battery indication. In fact, the phone app indicated the battery was still good. I thought I'd read the battery would last three years, but I admit I could be confused - now the listing indicates battery lasts 6-months.
