I love this mattress. I see it's been discontinued. That's a shame, because it really is a wonderful mattress. It is a little bit firm, and I usually go for plush- but it's not too firm for me. Was thinking about buying a latex pad to make it softer, but it doesn't need it. Mine had no smell when I took it out of the plastic.

y wife and I have slept on a King mattress since 1971. We have always been heavy and always owned top of the line beds, our last a Firm tight top Sterns and Foster. We decided to buy an adjustable bed and down size. Our bed came with a free Nature’s Sleep basic 10” foam mattress. It was nicely firm and in fact a lovely mattress, befitting it’s obvious price point it was made fabulous with the addition of a 2” latex topper. I however could not simply sit up in bed to watch TV or read without sinking slowly to a point that was just silly. I had recently bought a twin Hybrid-Foam from Zinus and found it to be great and became sold on the Hybrid concept. I wanted to order a Hybrid-Latex mattress as a solution. Having put a 1” latex topper on my twin and a 2” latex topper on the free foam mattress I was sold on the bounce rather than sink that latex provides. The Hybrid-latex mattresses I could find differed primarily in coil height and edge support. Lucid seemed to have the right features in their Hybrid-Latex models. I bought the 12” for a softer top under the Latex. I am very pleased with the mattress, I have a nice edge I can sit on, there is a finite sink that stops at a nice place and it was easy to unpack. I am very impressed with the “buyer’s experience” from both Zinus and Lucid. Both companies deliver easy to handle solutions to Online purchasers. Mattress stores are a nightmare, online mattresses are a great answer.Over the last 6 months I have bought multiple toppers (as in 6) and want to say that toppers are a game changer. Serious mattress pads and the variety of toppers means that if you find the mattress features you want you can buy with the confidence that a topper will be an option to tweak your new mattress into the mattress you dreamed of and there are some truly nice mattress pads to use as a topper cover out there. Me I am going to have the best night’s sleep in a long time tonight on my Lucid 12” Hybrid-Latex mattress (and one of my toppers). Gosh its nice when you feel like something is money well spent.Update: We have now bought two more (King Size) and genuinely hope the product will be available for a long time. I still have a "Free with Frame" all foam to wear out so I can get a fourth.

This is our second Lucid mattress. It replaced one purchased 8 years ago (Lucid 10'). The difference being this one has the coil springs. It expanded well and fully within 36 hours. The support is as described - medium/firm. We both feel like the edges are not as firm as our previous Lucid model. In spite of the description specifically stating "Edge Support", it just feels softer, likely due to the coils and less foam or lower density foam, on the edges. The Latex top layer is much more responsive than memory foam IMO and better at heat regulation. There is little motion transfer from either of us that we notice. Initial sleep quality was ok most likely due to getting used to the additional support that our previous one had lost. Overall I feel it is a good value for the price

Forewarning: I am an author...so words are kind of my thing. Strap in. I've got a lot to say about this mattress.My husband and I have been sleeping on this mattress for a few nights now. I will update this review in the coming months, but my initial reaction is that I am only disappointed in this mattress because it only recently came into my life. (Okay, there is one thing that actually does disappoint me about this mattress, but I'll get to it at the end of my review.)My sister-in-law has a Tuft&Needle Mint mattress, and I'm not going to lie. It's freaking amazing. That is why I began looking into boxed mattresses in the first place. I actually had a T&N Mint in the cart and hovered over the button ready to buy it. But my instinct told me to look around first.I began looking at *all* the brands. ALL OF THE BRANDS. Again, I'm an author...so research is my jam.Neither my husband nor myself are tiny people. I watched mattress review videos on YouTube from The Slumber Yard channel and realized we'd probably be better off with a hybrid mattress rather than a strictly foam mattress.That little rabbit hole led me to Amazon where I discovered Lucid Mattresses.We bought the 12 inch Latex Hybrid. Both of us loathe memory foam, so that was out of the question.Other reviews say this mattress is not a medium on the firmness scale, but a firm-firm (some even say it's like sleeping on a brick). This was actually a selling point for me. While I disagree the bed is brick-like, it is definitely a lot firmer than a medium. For larger people this is an excellent thing. It's so supportive! And since all mattresses soften over time, its firmness out of the box, I would think, translates into longevity.The smell out of the box reminded me of a nail salon, but we let the mattress breathe for 24 hours before using it and we kept a fan on, oscillating over it the entire time and afterwards there was no smell at all.Edge support is FREAKING AWESOME. I can be right on the edge of the bed and never feel like I'm going to fall off.One thing I haven't been able to find in a review for this mattress so far is, well, "Will it be good for sex?" Let's face it...memory foam mattresses are horrible for sex. There's no bounce. This mattress has bounce in spades. I was slightly worried about a foam mattress, or even a hybrid, for this very reason. Don't worry.Both my husband and myself are "hot sleepers" and neither of us are waking up in pools of sweat and discomfort. Actually, it's the opposite. We are sleeping much cooler now.I'm 33 years old and wake up feeling 33 instead of 53. Within just a few days my back and shoulder pain is GONE. And my husband's back pain has been greatly reduced.Now, onto the only thing that disappoints me about this mattress:There are no handles on this mattress. I'm pretty sure I understand why (because tugging on the handles would probably rip the mattresses's cover) but it's at least 134 pounds and there is an *excellent* non-slip element to the bottom of the cover...but that will sort of make it unduly difficult to rotate on the platform.That's it. That's my only gripe so far: a lack of handles.Listen, if you need further recommendation for this mattress: My dachshund used to get up in excess of 10-15 times per night because she would either get too hot or would just be downright uncomfortable...probably a combination of those reasons. She really won't say. ;-) But, since we've been sleeping on this Lucid mattress...she hasn't gotten up A SINGLE TIME. Which just means my sleep is less disturbed than it once was *and* I'm more comfortable to boot.I'm really, really pleased with our Lucid. I'll update in the coming months.
