Is "RED" more like Maroon?

Well judging by the picture it does look more maroon than say apple red. I like the brick red. Good luck.

Does the acrylic-based fabric get scratchy with wear and washing?

not at all it is super comfortable,breathable, soft fabric I used true summer time and also great for fall transitions Weather just love it so much I got two sets in different colors

Are these sets machine dryable?

Yes, but I recommend you either lay them flat or not dry on hot cycle. They don’t really hold their shape well. Great for lounging or running errands.
