Solid product and a good value
Capacitors are wear items that are best either proactively replaced before they go bad or, at the very least, you should keep a properly rated spare on hand for when the one in your current AC unit inevitably quits. Furthermore, replacing a capacitor is a job that is well within the average DIY’er with nothing but the most basic tools required. There are plenty of YouTube videos on how to do it and do so safely. That is, unless you want to pay an HVAC repair company $200/$300/$400 or more when your capacitor quits (and it will eventually) on the hottest day of the year. Yes, that is what they charge to replace a capacitor. This Blue Stars brand dual run capacitor arrived promptly and when tested with my Klein MM700 multimeter was almost spot on the label rating and well within the claimed 5% tolerance. Replaced an aging Dayton (Grainger) part number 2MEK3B of the same specifications (50 + 7.5 mfd) in a 20 year old Lennox central air unit (not the original capacitor). The dimensions of the Blue Stars capacitor (both diameter and height) matched the Dayton unit being replaced exactly and were consistent with the product listing. The capacitor being replaced was still working and tested OK so it will go on the shelf as a spare. The capacitor itself is clearly marked (C=common, FAN, and HERM (compressor)). Terminals feel solid as does the metal (aluminum) casing. Did not weigh it but felt as heavy (if not slightly more) than the capacitor it was replacing. The product labeling clearly shows China as the place of manufacture but claims it is UL (USA) and CE (Europe) certified (but I have no way to verify this). Product listing in Amazon states a 100% lifetime warranty. Can’t vouch for that either. When installed and tested, the AC unit fired right up with the new capacitor.Far less expensive than I could find locally (Southwest Ohio). Certainly inexpensive enough to either purchase to have a spare on hand or, like me, proactively swap out an aging part before a problem occurs so I could do it at my convenience and schedule. As noted above, replacing a capacitor is not rocket science and within the ability of anyone that can replace a household light switch. Just make sure you get a capacitor of the right microfarad (MFD) rating for your application and TURN OFF THE POWER before you even think about starting the project. This means either flipping the circuit breaker in the main panel for the AC unit off or using the exterior safety disconnect switch where the AC interconnects to the house power. Simply turning off the switch on the furnace or thermostat IS NOT ENOUGH. Also, a capacitor, even one that has failed, can hold a residual charge and, therefore, make sure you discharge the old unit. Again, there are many videos available on how to do this and do it safely. Do some homework if this is new to you as saving a few dollars is not worth a serious injury or electrocution. Can’t comment yet on durability or service life but will update if it fails prematurely. Otherwise, a good solid product and an excellent value. Five (blue) Stars.DISCLAIMER: I am a member of the Amazon Vine program. This means that I receive some products free of charge to use and review. I only request/accept items I will actually use. My reviews are based on this real-world usage – they are not mere regurgitations of the Amazon product description or insincere hype. I am not a shill and I do not consider the fact that an item was provided without charge as part of my ratings. I have given Vine products one star, five stars, and all points in between. I put serious effort into my reviews and they represent my honest opinion of the product. My hope it they will help someone make an informed, educated choice whether or not a product is right for them.

PERFECT
High quality with internal thermal protection. Nice that it has four blade terminals on each connection. Needed one for my small dehumidifier compressor. Worked perfect.

Cheap and fast fix for my A/C Compressor
Every 5-7 years my A/C needs a new capacitor in the outdoor compressor unit. I hate having to pay $200+ just for the diagnosis and then $80-$100 for a capacitor. This was so cheap, easy, and fast. It was amazing. Also, even if you don't know this is your problem, it is so cheap it is worth a shot. Be sure to turn off electricity and remember that capacitors store charge and you'll be fine. If your fan doesn't run when the unit is on, odds are this cheap part will fix your A/C.

A wrong diameter in the description!
This capacitor works great. I fixed my air conditioner without any problems, and even ordered a couple of them for the future. However, there is a big inaccuracy in its description: its diameter is not 2.16, but about 2.5 inches. I searched online for both a capacitor and a mount for it, and because of this mistake, I ordered the wrong mount from eBay.I attach two pictures: the description versus the actual size. Please fix it!

Great Replacement for OEM Capacitor in Air Handler
TLDR: Capacitor works great and is a fantastic bargain compared to calling an HVAC tech. Attached photos are of the old capacitor and resulting frozen coil. Here’s the longer story for homeowners who may benefit from my trouble shooting endeavors…My heat pump system wasn’t cooling our house but I could here the outdoor compressor unit running, so I removed the cover on the front of the air handler in the basement to see what could be the issue. The coil was frozen solid with white ice and the fan wasn’t blowing. I could see that the hot wire to the terminal on the capacitor for the fan had corroded so much that it broke free and must be the cause of my problems. Having had a leak in the coil two years prior I knew the procedure for deicing the coil was to switch from cooling to heating on the thermostat until the ice was melted and then shut down the system (the heat pump system is 15 years old and is getting replaced in the near future). After that I switched off the circuit breakers to the air handler and removed the old capacitor and started searching online for a replacement part based on the microfarad rating and other info on the side of the old capacitor. After reading through some HVAC forums I determined that this BlueStars capacitor should get me back up and running and that the 440 VAC rating would work fine for replacing my old one rated for 370 VAC. I also bought an inexpensive pack of wire terminal clips to fix the hot wire that had broken. Once everything arrived I got the BlueStars capacitor hooked up with the new terminal clip and everything worked perfectly when I started up the system. I didn’t get an estimate from an HVAC company but I am guessing I saved a couple hundred dollars at a cost of an hour or two of work and research and maybe an extra day or two of waiting for parts to arrive assuming the HVAC company would have had the right capacitor immediately available. All in all I am thrilled with this purchase and the money it saved me!

Exactly as described
This an exact replacements for the cap in my new AC unit, I’ll keep it on hand for the day I need and I won’t have to call in a repair man at short notice and 3hr minimum who’ll want 5 or 6 x what I’ve just paid for it plus the labour of course.

Work perfectly
We use as replacement for existing capacitors on furnaces older than 10 years before the installed ones fail. If the installed ones fail we also have to replace the motor as it does not start without a working capacitor.

Works very well, but not durable
Installed in Nov 2022, started failing in Feb 2024.I noticed that the furnace blower took longer than usual to get running up to its normal speed.Took it out, tested it and it does indeed show only 7.2uf on my multimeter.I think the days of capacitors lasting anywhere between 10-12 years are long gone.On my RUUD furnace, the first capacitor lasted ~10 years. Now it's one every 18-36 months.
