Frequently Asked QuestionsHow is this cup with catching everything and not leaking? The Dot Cup has a firm rim in addition to a super soft and flexible body. This means that it’s comfortable, but also creates a perfect suction seal. If properly inserted, leaks are a non-issue. From a capacity standpoint the Dot Cup has 3x the volume of a super tampon, so even during your heaviest days there will be less trips to the bathroom. The #1 secret to comfortably removing the Dot Cup (and all cups) is pinching the base of the cup to release suction before AND during removal. The stem is there to bring the cup down from high inside, but should not be used to actually remove. Firmly grip the base of the cup to release the suction seal as you pull down and out. Why the buy-one give-one model?Thousands of people around the world don’t have access to basic products to manage their period, and this is a devastating obstacle that often keeps them from finishing school, living their lives freely, and owning the way they spend their days. The Dot Cup allows people the freedom to pursue what matters to them, every day of the month.

I wanted to love the Dot cup, but it just didn't work for me. Fantastic service though!
I'm a new menstrual cup user. I chose Dot as my first cup because it's the only black cup made and sold in the US. Also, the customer service before I even ordered a cup was great! They answered all my questions and helped me feel less scared about trying the cup. They don't have an official satisfaction/return policy, but they told me let them know when I'm unhappy with the cup at any point.I used the Dot cup for 2 cycles and really wanted to love it. Unfortunately it just did not work for me. Reasons:1) I experienced leaking when the cup was 1/3 to 1/2 half full, even on my heavy days. I did all that I could think of to fix this problem: make sure the cup is open fully, make sure the seal is secure, make sure my cervix is in the cup and not outside it, put the cup in while squatting, fold my cup all sorts of different ways. EVERYTHING!I leak while sleeping too! I woke up feeling like I stayed dry the whole night, only to have the dried mess on my underwear rudely tell me otherwise. Again, the Dot cup is only a third of the way full when I removed it. With pads, I experienced my flow going down my legs and buttocks as I slept, waking up with a bloody mess on my underwear. I literally lost sleep. Another reason for me trying to switch to the Dot cup is to (for once!) have a peaceful night's rest while menstruating. I was at my wit's end!2) I started leaking right when I started running and felt the stem rub my labia. The Dot cup did not stay put while I was exercising! This was the final straw. I contacted customer service for help, but again, I was already doing everything they suggested: do kegels and spin/twist the cup every time I put in the Dot cup. Tug on the stem to check the seal. Trimming the stem didn't help my rubbing issue either. I felt the cup shifting downwards like it wants to come out, even when I did all I can to secure the suction. The base of the cup plus stem rubs. I was so uncomfortable, I switched to a different cup in the middle of my second cycle with the Dot cup. I couldn't take the Dot cup for another cycle!I think the Dot cup might just be too long for me to comfortably use and could explain the leaks I experienced. Maybe my vagina was too short for the Dot cup (I'm petite, 5'2", 110 pounds), so I couldn't fit the whole cup in my canal and physically get the cup to sit below or over my cervix. Also, I have the copper IUD, so I bleed more than a vampire's lunch. The Dot cup may also just not have enough volume for me, but I'm not sure. I never had a full cup when I took it out.I'm leaving a 4-star review because the customer service was excellent! Dot is also a fantastic company run by real women for women! They did their very best to help me and I eventually got a refund when the cup didn't work for me. And just because the Dot cup didn't work for me, doesn't mean someone else can't benefit. I'm definitely not going back to tampons and pads, even while I'm figuring out my cup leakage issues. I would definitely recommend others try Dot!

Excellent product!
Even without a “perfect cup”, I have loved using a cup for at least 5 years now. I have a lot of experience here and this is a GREAT CUP!My old cup was great for most of my cycle, except at the beginning...I knew I would be starting that day, but had not yet started. This was my “uncomfortable” start day. With this cup, it popped into place perfectly from the very first try! Trust me, I have had days with 4 - 5 tries to get the right seal. I was super happy with that. For me, the fit was really, really comfortable and I truly did not think about it all day. Perfect! 5 starsThe design is excellent for the removal, no problem at all. With my old cup, I did sometimes have leaks and “sometimes” pretty much means I always use a “backup” product on my really heavy day. I have not gotten to the part of my cycle yet to see how this cup will do, but I will update!I was so happy with day one, I really wanted to get this review up. If you are considering this cup, I highly recommend this one.

My Goldilocks
I am new to cups and got the Dot Cup after many articles, videos, reviews of researching a cup that is not too small yet no too big for my vaginal canal. I am a virgin, but I find small cups to slip...and larger cups are too much for me. So I love how the Dot cup is a happy medium. It was never hard to get the cup to open in me due to the beautifully firm yet thick rim, and I had no bladder pressure due to the soft body. I love this cup. It only leaks on me if I did not properly insert it. And their customer service is amazing. I love that the cup is black and the bag is beautiful. The cup, the bag, the people of Dot Cup, and their goals are so beautiful. I recommend this cup to all my menstruating friends.

Wow! Game Changer!
I have always been a "pad" girl until not too long ago, I switched to tampons. But recently, I was talking to a friend about a very long hike that will take us around 6 hours to complete, and I wasn't sure how I was going to manage my menstrual issue since I was expecting to start the morning of the hike. Right then, she mentioned about menstrual cup. I had no idea what it was so I checked it out on YouTube. Watched a few reviews until I stumbled upon Kelli's reviews. Anyways, she was so thorough and even showed her collection cup with real blood in it. The last review I watched from her was her review on DOTcup. I made a leap of faith and ordered it. Honestly, every person's body is different so I was hesitant about the insertion of it. Well, I did it and love, love, LOVE!!! I'm so glad I switched over. Dotcup is so comfortable I even ran 8 miles in it and didn't feel a thing. Life changing! If you're on the fence, take my word and go for it!!!

I have been using menstrual cups for about a year. It is a trial and error process and I have yet to find my perfect cup. The DOT cup I can compare to the Diva cup and the Lily cup. The Lily cup was reaaaaally soft and easy to insert and remove, but a little too long for my body, so, didn’t work. The Diva cup works pretty well, without the stem, but it puts such pressure that it interferes with my needs to use the bathroom, even to pee. So, I decided to try the Dot cup after doing some research. I am using for the first time and these are my impressions at the end of my first day. It is comfortable, only when I cut off part of the stem. The cup is somewhat softer than the Diva cup and more flexible, so it doesn’t get on my way of peeing or pooping— yay!!! Now, I don’t know if I just need more practice, but I find it difficult to take out. It’s taking me way longer to get to break the seal and then folding it to take it out, like I am used to do. So far, it is my only issue, other than some minimal leaking and odd smell that I never experienced with the Diva cup.
