Sea-Dog Brass Closed Base Cleat, 3-3/16"

When you pay over $20 for a very simple 3" cleat, is it too much to expect it would also include the two brass screws required to mount it? Now I need to make a separate trip to the hardware store, just to see if they actually have brass screws that will fit. Really bush.

Excellent quality. I installed them on my wooden canoe and have used them for both tie-down anchors when mounted on vehicle racks (2 of the 4 tie-down straps, I wouldn't recommend they be used as the only tie-down anchors) and for tying to a dock. They have shown no signs of wear and are strong. They did not come with screws and I was able to find brass screw at a local lumber yard with rounded heads. Screws with flat heads sat too deep in the countersunk holes. My only complaint is they are not "open cleats" with a space in the middle for attaching a hook.

I've been trying to find beautiful, high-quality blind cleats that I'd actually not mind looking at ...and finally did with these! Most of the others I ordered showed up tarnished and/or scratched... certainly not as pictured. Cheap-looking. By contrast, with the Sea-Dog cleats what you see in the image is what you get--a beautiful, heavy, solid looking piece with a polished-brass finish. What you can't appreciate though from the image is how heavy they are. Just exquisite. They look expensive and you get beautiful quality for the price. Mounting screws are not included but they are not advertised as being included. Brass screws with countersunk heads are easily found at any large hardware store and are best purchased to match the specific application (i.e. length of screw). I would not take a star off for screws not being included.

Very shines and nice looking. The ad said 4 inches they are closer to three and a half. So not what I was looking for. They would probably make a good drawer pull. You would need very line to use these in a boat. The sale was quick, and on time just like most Amazon transactions.

Exactly as described. I think it is silly for people to complain about not having screws to go with it. Every person's situation is different and needs different screws or even ones with nuts on the end.

It did not come with screws and the description was not clear as to the size of the cleat. It is only 2.5 inches long, so not big enough for what I intended it for.
