Functions as advertised. Seller IFI homes is very helpful and polite and helped to install the Cam remotely. Bit slow while viewing through mobile app could be due to connectivity.

A 9831 plus BlueIris software is a fantastic combination for home security (or just watching the birds and squirrels).
I'd bought BlueIris software to monitor my CCTV cameras, one became toast and I decided to replace it with an IP camera. Foscam sells BlueIris so I assumed that a Foscam camera would be ideal. I chose the 9831P because the camera is in a fixed position indoors and doesn't need Zoom but I wanted Pan/Tilt to make it easier to set the view via software rather than having to manually set the view.As noted in other reviews setting up the software was not only difficult but impossible for me, the instructions were non-intuitive, however a quick call to Foscam support and the tech used TeamViewer to get everything working perfectly. The camera image is excellent, both for 'daylight' and 'night-time'. The IR lights are as good as the sun, just in black and white and many shades of grey. The only problems that I have are that the camera switches between daylight and night-time fairly frequently which generates many e-mail alerts and, even though the camera is connected to my wireless router by ethernet, the monitoring PC uses a wireless connection to the router. The problems aren't with the camera. The first is related to clouds passing by which affects a large portion of the view and therefore triggers the switch in BlueIris. Perhaps Foscam could reduce the sensitivity to this in firmware or, even better, provide a 'slider' control in the camera configuration. The second is related to the wireless connection between the router and the PC which occasionally drops some of the video stream resulting in a pixilated view which again triggers BlueIris alerts.I've had this camera in action since May 5, 2015 and can't judge it's longevity but the camera was 'instantly' viewable out of the box using my Firefox browser, the 1280x1024 image is amazing and I'm planning on buying a second camera to replace the other CCTV camera, likely in about 2 months after I purchase a tablet to allow remote viewing when I'm away.

Pretty much perfect (BUT MAC Users should read this)
I searched for over 6 hours over the course of a few days before selecting this camera. I've used it for 2 nights and so far everything is great.PROs:Great IR night time videoMuch cheaper than cameras with same qualityRemote pan/tiltCan view on multiple devices simultaneouslyWireless function (does not need to be hardwired)CONs:2-way audio not the best while used together (possible to either listen or talk or both)The camera is a little big/not as aesthetically pleasing as some other modelsMac users must use Safari for install (not compatible with Firefox or Chrome)My Use: I understand that people may use this camera for a variety of purposes. I use mine for indoor use only to check on my 2 1/2 yr old. (We will be using it for my month old son in the near future but right now he sleeps in our room)Setup: Mac users MUST use Safari. I spent just over 3 hours trying to install and configure the camera using Firefox and Chrome. It wasn't until I used Safari that I was able to install the necessary browser plugins to setup the Wifi connection for the camera. Using safari took about 10 min. I found a very helpful video on youtube that walks through the steps nicely. (better than the guide provided)<https://youtu.be/kRTaIfbRD3M>Video: Works great. The quality may be beat by other cameras but I am perfectly happy with it. The fi9831p features 960p which is great because it adds a bit more view to the top and bottom of the screen. The IR nighttime video is where this camera really excels. We really only see the night time view because thats when we need to check on him. The picture is very clear (gray-scale as IR normally is). The room it is in has no light at all at night so I can say the IR works great. The remote pan/tilt is excellent.Audio: This is where the camera falls a little short. The incoming audio is acceptable. The ability to talk though the camera is also ok. But when used together the quality is slightly poor. His room is right next to ours so sound isn't too much of a problem for us and we mainly were looking for the best video features. Also, there is no alert for sound on the foscam viewer app, only motion detection.Foscam Viewer app: Probably not the best. If anyone can suggest a better one it probably is better. It does function and meets our needs of wanting to take a peak at our boy.Recoding: It has a full size SD card slot that can record video/snapshotsBottom Line: This camera has great IR and good video. Its cheaper than it's peer models for many brands, some exceeding $200. The setup is very straightforward after watching the video I posted and using Safari. I would readily recommend this product to just about anyone with kids.
