Van Der Hagen Badger Brush - Shave Brush Made from 100% Genuine Badger Hair, Exfoliates and Cleanses Skin

This is the second Van Der Hagen Badger Brush I've bought. I have one in the master bath and one at the office. It's a perfect brush for those of us that still want to shave with shaving soap from a mug.

Large brush that will create think lather very quickly. Experienced very little shedding in the first couple of uses. This brush is a good value.

This shaving brush works as well as most expensive badger bristle brushes.

Great feel and weight.

I AM A VANDERHAGEN SNOB. I USE NOTHING BUT THEIR SHAVING SOAP AND BRUSHES FOR YEARS. I HAVE A 12 YEAR OLD BRUSH THAT I USED EVERYDAY UNTIL THIS NEW ONE, AND NOW I USE THE OLD ONE IN MY WEEKLY TRAVEL AND THE BRUSH IS JUST NOW STARTING TO SHED.

Find a better brush. This brush is scratchy and has a bit of a wet dog smell. It will work if you can tolerate the scratch and smell, but I hope to find a better brush. While other reviewers noted that the knot fell out of the handle on their brushes, on the brush that I received, the knot was loose and jiggled around, so I glued it in.I liked the old brush that I had previously, and it lasted a very long time, and I think (not sure) it was also a Van Der Hagen brush that came with a kit. That old brush was physically bigger, the fibers were blond colored with a dark band, and it worked great. I can't wait to find another good brush and discard this new scratchy smelly one. I have been using this brand of shaving brush for about 15 years. Before they improved the brush I had a problem with the handle and Van Der Hagen sent me a new style replacement at no charge. The brush is very soft and whips up the shaving soap extremely well.

This review is for the Van Der Hagen Badger Brush - 100% Genuine Badger Hair. I'll get right to the point. I warmed up my usual shave soap, and ran this brush under hot water to begin creating a lather. Almost immediately, I thought I smelled something "rotten". As soon as I applied the brush to my face, loaded with shave lather, I smelled an overwheliming odor of "death"! It's the only way I can describe it. As if the bristles were attached to the rotting flesh of the badger.I set it aside and finished shaving with my old brush. When I went to squeeze the water out of the Van Der Hagen Badger Brush, the entire set of bristles pulled out of the handle, with silver ring attached. I couldn't imagine a worse experience with a shave brush! Forget the German sounding name, you know where this was manufactured. Makes me also wonder about the handling of the animals they raise for pelts to make these brushes. I just can't recommend this product. At all....
