Don't know why people are putting bad reviews or things saying that it is too dry. If you don't know how to prepare carne seca then don't buy it. Burrito de machaca, comes out excellent but again you have to know how to hydrate it. Keep in mind, that it has to be hydrated while cooking, either but onion sweat or some kind of fluid. I just prepared this morning a Machaca burrito and all I used was Onion, Tomato and Serrano along with some water to make the onion sweat faster, the I dumped a fist of Carne Seca, let it hydrate and the dump some beaten eggs on top of it. Mixed well and voalaaa, you have the perfect Machaca with product. Two big thumbs up in my part!Don't know how to cook it? Go back to the drawing board, follow this suggestion or go to Culinary School and maybe you will learn some basic things!Just my two cents!

This is interesting - I've never had Carne Seca before, but am quite the fan of all kinds of soft jerky. This is not like your typical jerky - it is much drier (though not completely desiccated) and much more finely shredded. Although this seems to be an ingredient for a dish of some kind, I ate it in its raw form, one handful at a time.You have to let it sit in your mouth for just a little bit, and it takes some chewing to get through. Strong, natural, beef flavor - you don't get walloped with seasoning like you do with many jerkys. Not hard at all, neither my jaw nor teeth hurt working my way through it. Relatively filling - I usually only have a couple handfuls per snacking session.Scent-wise - a little off-putting. It has a small reminiscent of those high-quality dog treats you can get, though it tastes much better. The actual flavor is just very natural.So I would recommend it for a shredded jerky, if you want the real beef experience. I don't know if Ill buy it again - It isn't something I'd get on the regular, I think, but it's worth trying at least once.
