Better than expected!
Listen, for the price, this is a great buy. It looks sharp, has a SOLID weight to it and has a mirror finish on the blade that I didn't expect. The casting is clear and free of obvious defects or leftover edges, and the blade is pretty dang straight and even. It was a perfect costume piece and will look good when I hang it as decoration in my office.Having said, you will not be fighting anyone with this blade, so don't buy it for its craftsmanship or dependability. Swinging this is like swinging a Fiat. The blade came factory dull, and I have no inventing of sharpening it. The scabbard had a few edges where the leather was scored and bent, like it was dropped and rubbed hard against something before packaging.

Awesome sword for the price
Got this for my first renaissance fair that I'm going to in a few weeks. Based on the photos and description, I couldn't tell if the sheath had a built in belt loop. I can now confirm that it does, so you do not need to buy a separate sword frog/holster. The sword is not super tight in the sheath so it could slide out at the right angle. The edges of the sword are rounded but the tip is a bit pointy. Not sharp but about what you would expect from a metal corner. The sword definitely has some heft to it and is not balanced well for only one hand, so I guess be wary of that if you have any issues with arm or wrist strength. But since it's just a prop, it's meant only for display anyway. Hopefully there won't be any weight issues with it hanging from my belt.It came wrapped very tightly and thoroughly in several layers of plastic and bubble wrap. There is grease on all of the metal surfaces that is messy when you first unpackage it. There are a few reviews complaining about this that don't realize the grease is important to keep it from rusting during storage and shipping. I got it mostly cleaned up pretty easily with just some paper towels and 70% IPA screen wipes. I'll probably go back over the grooves with a brush and some degreaser or dish soap.I think a number of the people that wrote poor reviews for this sword don't understand the concept of "you get what you pay for." It's a $40 metal prop sword. Of course it's not perfect. Sure the leather has some scratches or tiny tears, and the metal has a few blemishes and if you look down from the tip, you'll see that the blade is not perfectly straight. But I highly doubt anyone else will look closely enough to notice and judge the minor cosmetic issues.

Overall lackluster sword
Not a half bad sword for the price, arrives blunt. The handle/blade is slightly too large for a one handed sword yet its too short to fit both hands so its kind of a mess in that department. and the blade isn't the most sturdy since I ordered 2 for sparring. one broke and the other is hanging on by a thread and is now just for decoration. good purchase if you intend on very lightly sparring, and or decoration but as a heavy use sword. I wouldn't recommend, but overall pretty decent for its price but I would recommend Kult of Athena.

Worth the buy
Beautifully made sword, simple but elegant, is worth every penny I spent on it, will be etching my family's name into it with norse runes.

Excellent sword for the money
I am very impressed with this sword. It feels very solid...no loose parts. The handle and the scabbard are wrapped with black imitation leather which is stitched tightly on.... it looks like real leather. The polished stainless steel blade is 30" long and is not sharpened. It is not at all flimsy as I was afraid it would be. It's very stout. The width of the blade is 1 3/4" at the hilt and gradually tapers to the tip. The thickness of the blade is 1/8". The overall length of the sword is 36 1/2". India is stamped on the blade. The hilt and the pommel appear to be nickel or chrome plated solid brass. I'm not sure about the weight, but it feels like 2.5 to 3 lbs. I really like it. I intend to sharpen it....I think it would work very well in battle.Update 05/12/2013: I must admit this was the first sword I have ever owned. I didn't really know anything about swords when I bought it. That being said, I have since done a lot of research and I would NOT recommend sharpening it or striking anything hard with it.Mainly because it is made of stainless steel... stainless steel is very brittle and it would break if it struck anything hard. Therefore this sword should be used for display only. A good sword for cutting and striking would be made of high carbon steel and heat tempered.

Great Sword!
I wasn't expecting much, so this sword really exceeded my expectations! I'm going to buy a second one to have some crossed swords on my wall that I display my collection of Viking axes. While it doesn't come with sharpened edges, this can easily be achieved with a standard belt sander in about an hour. It has a double edge. I was expecting a soft rubber combat grip but it looks and feels more like leather. I may cut it off and do a real leather wrap. I'd recommend buying this in a heartbeat.Other reviews have said it's too heavy to use but its not so heavy that someone with some strength couldn't wield two. Just realize that it isn't fit for combat clashing with another sword, but would be great if the zombie apocalypse goes down.
