Sugar? dextrose? why does the label say pure when it's mostly sugar? is that why it's so cheap?

Found this online. “By FDA definition, a "pure" extract means that the vanilla flavor can only come from vanilla beans and nothing else. This is a factor that draws a definitive line in the sand between pure extract and imitation vanilla, but it relates only to the vanilla flavor and doesn't necessarily mean that nothing other than vanilla beans contributed to the overall product. It's not uncommon to find vanilla extracts that contain a little sugar or corn syrup, and this is perfectly legal because neither contributes to that vanilla taste.“

Can you post a pick with all ingredients. is there sugar added?

It is literally just sugar (dextrose) with some (very minor) vanilla flavor.

What is the expiration date on the product? I want to make certain the product is nice and fresh, and not an outdated older product. Thanks

There is a UDC (universal date code) on the bottle, this is the date of manufacture. There is also a five digit lot code on the bottle which corresponds to the date of manufacture. If you provide us with either, we will confirm date of manufacture. We guarantee e the shelf life for three years from the date of manufacture.

Great substitute for halal baking!

This powder makes a fantastic 1:1 substitute for vanilla extract! The fact that it's alcohol-free is a huge plus for anyone who has religious or health-related dietary restrictions, and it's honestly about the same price as vanilla extract by weight. Great quality item

If you haven't used vanilla powder for cooking, you're missing out. Really convenient ingredient in this form. Doesn't get the alcohol taste of some of the extracts.

Lacks flavor.

Integrates well into recipes, but it definitely could use more vanilla flavor. It is about half of the regular vanilla extract. Probably have to use twice as much for it to come through.

Nice cappuccino topping

Nice topping for my morning cappuccino. A bit pricy. This differs from their organic vanilla powder in that the vanilla is extracted then infused in tapioca dextrose, while the organic version is infused into organic sucrose. Dextrose is one molecule of glucose (blood sugar), while sucrose is one molecule of glucose attached to one molecule of fructose which is sweeter. The texture of the organic version is more like powdered sugar and clumps a bit, while the non-organic version pours quickly. The organic version is more costly.
