It works!
First, for those claiming it doesn't work in direct sunlight, or they can't make calls or text, read what you are buying as there are different versions and if you buy the WIFI only version and then can't make calls or text, that is really on you and not Amazon or Samsung. When it comes to direct sunlight, it works just fine. The key to anything is reading the manual and then understanding how to use the tablet. Turn off the auto-brightness because that is more useful for low light than bright light. Next, turn the brightness to maximum and you'll be able to see the display clearly even with the sun shining directly on the tablet. Now here is something you need to pay attention to. It doesn't matter who makes the tablet, what brand, what kind of screen etc, if you leave a tablet out in direct sunlight when the temperature is hot as in the warmer months it isn't going to last very long, period. There is no way around it because the tablet can get hotter than it was ever designed to work in and you can damage ANY tablet screen by leaving it in the sun. It's common sense and your smartphones will also be damaged if you do that, even the very expensive models. This tablet just works, the screen is bright and the fingerprint reader is so helpful. The stylus is something that sets this apart from all the others, it's integrated and is smooth and accurate. Drawing and writing is a pleasure with none of the chicken scratch that the thick rubber eraser type styluses present. It's rugged too. I use it on a motorcycle as mapping/GPS and through many thousands of miles with all the vibration, weather and yes, direct sunlight it just works. There is no tablet made, it doesn't matter who makes it that will survive any kind of drop onto concrete. Even military grade tablets need bulky shock isolation cases to keep them working where getting dropped is routine. If you plan on dropping the tablet often (how do so many people drop phones and tablets anyway?) then just get a rubber bumper type case and solve your slippery fingers problem.I've had two of these, the other was the smaller version and is still going strong. I wouldn't hesitate to get another.

So far, so good
I found and bought this tablet for a specific use: controlling a sound mixer. I do this inside and outside, and this past summer, using my previous tablet, I discovered that high temperatures (95-97F, in shade) made it get strangely hot in my hands as well as losing its battery life far faster than in the past. So, this Samsung "semi-ruggedized" and reasonably-priced tablet is undergoing long-term testing before I buy a second one. It's a bit heavy, but it has run for 10 hours straight so far (in shade and mild temperature), and that's the kind of lifetime I need. More experience will be needed to evaluate the display and high temperature performance.

Typically Samsung.....
...as in top quality. Bought it to display nav software in my UTV. The max screen brightness is acceptable in sunlight buried wish it was even brighter even though it takes battery power. Too bad tablets like this don't have a white screen like Kindles. Still, it's a nice product and I'm glad I bought it

Works as described
At first glance other than a few buttons you can't tell the difference between this tablet and a standard galaxy tablet.Used this in rainy wet days with gloves on, I was skeptical but it actually works pretty smooth. Had a few minor 'skips' here and there but was able to use it a full day in winter rain with thinner gloves on. I tried some thicker gloves but no luck. Performs similar to other Tablets in the same class but the touchscreen really sets it apart. Battery life also pretty good, lowest I dropped to was 35% after a 11-hour day in 40-degree temps, that and you can easily replace the battery. Some considerations:-If you're using this solely indoors for POS this is kind of overkill-iPads dominate the Tablet market and unfortunately most of the business software support-the light sensor for dimming the screen can be a bit annoying if you're rotating the tablet a lot

Great tablet
Bought this for my destructive preschooler. So far it’s been really good. It’s rugged enough to go through all of his drops and spills a vent made a dent in it thus far. It is fast enough to keep up with his short attention span too, seamlessly switching between apps and running games like a dream. I cant say much about the use of the pen as we haven’t given it to him (didn’t want to lose it). But I can say so far this is a rugged reliable tablet that can stand up to everything my kid can throw at it.

Works great and texting works also..
Great tough little tablet, just what I needed for construction work, takes a beating and keeps on ticking( like the old Timex commercials). There was one reviewer that said it doesn't text(sms) but it does , a bit complicated procedure to set up but it works great. Big enough to see emails , text, and great for GPS maps in car. A bit more expensive but for the durability ( dirt, dust, drop proof, water resistant)well worth it. But not for everyone, this is a field tablet to be thrown on the dashboard, or wherever, not for just office work.
