LOVE it!
Bought this to go in our kitchen island so my five-foot nothing, 83-year old MIL wouldn't have to reach above the range or have microwave that took up space on the counter. The whole family loves it. Stylish additiion to the kitchen.

Stopped heating in first week, support is atrocious
We purchased this microwave to complete our newly installed island and had very high hopes. We loved the look and the top accessible control panel. Not sure if we would have ever really used the alexa integration or app and the wave to open is kinda difficult to activate. Also, the wifi did not automatically reconnect when the microwave was restarted, but that could be related to the heating issue. As the headline says, the microwave stopped heating in the first week which began the most frustrating interaction I have ever had with customer service. On my first call, a young man talked down to me because he was certain I had left the microwave in demo mode. When I assured him I had not, he walked me through the steps and made me enable demo mode, then again to disable demo mode. The unit started heating again and he smugly dismissed me from the phone. I hung up angry but hopeful that this would fix it, man was I wrong. Over the next week, the unit stopped heating about once a day. I would toggle it into demo mode and then out (a total of no less than 25 button presses) which fixed it most of the time. I eventually became frustrated with the work around and it stopped being as successful. In one instance, I had to cycle in/out of demo mode 5 times and unplug the unit to get it to start heating again. The second phone call to Sharp customer service got me to a woman with an absolute terrible connection. I was only catching every other word which lead me to guess at what she was asking and eventually she started answering for me. When she put me on hold, the music was uninterrupted so I knew the connection issues were on her end. She eventually communicated to me that a Sharp repair technician would call to schedule a repair visit to my home. The next day I got a call from Sharp to tell me that there were no available technicians in my area. This was the final straw, I contacted amazon to return the unit and they were amazingly helpful, including sending me a box because I did not have one large enough to fit the microwave.I am usually skeptical of reviews like mine. Every company has some quality issues and I want to believe that this is an isolated case of a bad product escaping the Sharp QA procedures. Perhaps if the customer service would have been more helpful we would have been able to isolate the issue and been happy with the microwave for years to come.

very convenient
I like the convenience of the drawer , not having to lift a dish up into it , or take a dish out and back up just to check how its cooking . It cooks evenly and its so easy to use . Great appliance !

All good until it wasn’t and then it was and then it wasn't again.
This is a follow-up, 1 year later after very little use in a vacation home. Everything below this paragraph is as it happened. To update this review, the unit started behaving weird. RE: Set for 1 min, then goes off after 3 sec. This happened a lot. Then one day while running, it blinked and blinked with errors, etc, then just completely died altogether. We just made it under the 1 year warranty but had bought an extended 3 year anyway so we are covered. In the end, pass on this unit. We liked the drawer type that has the tilting 45 degree control panel but Sharp holds that patent on that feature. And the motion sensor that opens the drawer automatically is dopey and really doesn't work consistently. We hear the Bosch is the one to get. If you get this one, BUY THE EXTENDED WARRANTY.This is a follow up after Sharp Service call.It was working but after a week it suddenly stopped heating anything. It goes on but food comes out cold. We are in process of contacting tech support for service or replacement. Hence the overall 1 star.Service tech was here and unit needed a switch adjustment. Tech mentioned he has done this service almost 40 times. He said these are coming out of the factory needing this adjustment but once done, it will function properly which it has so far.So if the unit suddenly stops heating even after it looks like it's running fine, it's probably the factory adjustment issue. Call Sharp Service as it is well within the warranty and they will arrange a free service call. They did take me thru one process of confirming the thing was not in Demo mode but it wasn't the case. If you like it as we do, its worth the effort.

Doesn’t age well
For the money, has lots of annoying features. Some by design and some poor quality:Auto close on drawer closes drawer and re-opens 3” instead of closing completely. Seems to sense heat or moisture when there isn’t any.Opening and closing in general is a pain. Button or sensor-controlled without manual option to open. Pressing close button during opening has no effect. Has to go through the complete open before closing.Annoying, periodic beeps when finished cooking, but only single, barely audible beep when timer is done.

High Tech !! Very smart Microwave...but expensive.
Needed a drawer style microwave because location was below waist height. Display is visible while standing.

Mixed
So my microwave came dented. After a lengthy process, I was able to return it to Amazon. I ended up purchasing the unit from an appliance store.I like that it fits into the cabinetry and it’s off the counter. My only negative is the finger prints on the black control buttons. You can eliminate this by using your smart phone to set the time to cook everything. But when the hubby is using it too, it’s like why bother. I’d still purchase it though. It is pretty and looks sharp! Be careful buying something like this that’s going to be tossed around a lot during shopping.
