Rebranded Brymen BM257s for the US Market - Great Multimeter
Great size, good price, solid build quality, accurate, and easy access to (2xAAA) batteries and fuses after you remove one screw. The leads are nice and soft "silicone" instead of cheap PVC and the gold plated probes are nice and sharp.Update: It's still a great little meter a year later. It would be a better buy at the price it was a year ago. $135 shipped. You can get the OEM version for that price still.

Top notch meter with a few gripes
This meter is really good, except for 1 major flaw that made me return it. There are also a couple minor annoyances that are not show stoppers, but not good in my opinion.DCV and ACVThis meter has excellent accuracy and is a True RMS meter. It also has a high number of counts for a very good precision reading.ContinuityThe continuity test is so so. It is very fast response, but is not latching. Has a scratchy sound to it, which I don't like. In general you can live with it since it is very high speed, but a latching beep would have made it aces.BacklightThe meter has a really nice backlight. Only issue for me is that when you shut off the backlight, it stays on only for 30 seconds. Not cool. When I turn on the backlight, I want the backlight to stay on until I shut it off.Rec function (aka Min Max)The record function is good, but lacks a "Fast min/max" mode for high speed transient detection.Diode TestChecks standard diodes fine, but can't test even a red LED. This is a show stopper to me. The meter only outputs 1.5V for the diode check, so it can't forward bias even a standard Red LED with a 1.6 forward voltage. My bremen 869 puts out 3V, and the fluke can even forward bias a white LED. A 1.5V diode test is inexcusable these days. Even my 25 year old Fluke 29 puts out 2.9V on the diode test function.Hold FunctionThe hold function is just OK. when you have a value on the screen and hit hold, it will lock the value into the display. This is ok, but not nearly as useful as the fluke AutoHold feature. AutoHold lets you set it, then take your measurement, and the meter will automatically hold the reading for you. For instance, if you hit autoHold, then measure the resistance of a resistor, you will hear a beep and the meter will have locked in the value of the resistor. This is a very handy feature, and one that a Vanilla hold really misses.Overall this is an excellent meter, that is built well, will be safe to use even at mains voltages (CAT iV rated). Brymen is the OEM of this meter which is sold as the BM-257. It is a good meter that will last a long time. Just don't rely on it for LED testing.

Good quality
Nice solid meter , all the functions work well and it's nice to have a back light when you need it. It has a nice rubber outer casing cover to protect against falls. The leads have a nice feel to them not stiff. and a good price for quality.

Awesome meter and not too large
This is meter does just about everything, and the size is great too. I first bought the 830A, which is super meter but it was *huge*. This meter has almost all the same functions (no conductivity, no Dbm) and it's *way* smaller.I would say that these Greenlee meters have way more value than Fluke, but it's more than that... Fluke doesn't even *make* one meter with all these features, so this was my only choice.I love it.

If you're a pro, don't order this.
Broke after only 3 uses(all low voltage and current dc) and Greenlee won't honor their warranty. Avoid!

Old
I have to give this 4 starts out of 5. Here's why, this is supposed to a brymen 257s. It is, sorta but not really. It lacks some subtle things that the Brymen does not and I cannot imagine why this is 8A for current measurement compared to it's Brymen 257s which is 10A. I own both meters the Brymen 257s and I did own the dm-510a and I wanted that to compare to my Brymens. I compared, they are not the same. The display is different. The doide measurement cannot work on LEDs for some reason but it does measure a real diode just fine. My brymen does not show DIOD when I switch to this setting so like I said the firmware is different and so is the screen. I wasn't happy that the price of the greenlee is about 30-50$ more and I wanted it just because it was Greenlee. This is not for me at 144$ which is what I paid. Great meter it does work but the one I got was from 2019.

Nice meter. Just as nice as a Fluke but for less money.
This is a very nice meter that is built to last. UL listed for safety and will do the same job as a Fluke for less money. This meter is made by Brymen for Greenlee. Its Brymen model 257. Tons of good reviews online. If you don't have the money for a Fluke then get this one.

Very Good Multimeter!
Works very well. From working on cars or you home this multimeter fits the bill.
