what is the material this beanie bopper is made of?

I am not sure what it’s made of. It is very soft to the touch and a it stretches. It fells like a cotton material.

Is this a long slouchy beanie or more of a short cap?

It's a skull cap that can cover the ears, but it also fits under a baseball cap, bicycle helmet, or acst as an extra layer under a larger woven toboggan or headcover. It's lightweight enough for spring weather, if you want to wear it alone. I wear it alone, as long as it's not too hot outside; or when it's cold, and I don't need a heavier head covering.

Do they tend to slide/ride up or hold the head steadily?

The beanie is comfortably snug, comes down partially over the ears, and doesn't ride-up or roll-up. It would take a very very strong wind to blow it off when cycling. I've worn it under baseball caps or knit caps for extra warmth. Fits nicely under your cycling or motorcycle helmets too!

Are these good for hot weather? I live in Las Vegas where it can get upwards of 110°.

I'd recommend it for keeping your head "warm." It would fit under a helmet, as another layer beneath a wool beanie, or hat in winter; but I'd find something lighter that breathes for climate that can reach up to 110°.
