Easy setup, works well.
This product was easy to setup with Windows 10/11 and didn't require additional third party software installation. It integrates well with Windows Hello and can be used with any applications that also use the service (password managers). The device is fairly discrete and wouldn't feel out of place plugged into my laptop permanently. It feels and looks well built and the case can be attached to a lanyard if you're unplugging routinely. The reader is fast and seems accurate, having tested it with the rest of my household. Sometimes I think it's a little too fast and takes the scan before you have fully positioned your finger, but you quickly get used to it. Happy so far, would recommend.

Works exactly as described - a very handy addition for a Windows desktop computer
I bought this with some reservations due to some less than favourable reviews, but in my case it works really well. I am using it with a Windows 11 desktop computer and it is plugged into a front panel USB-A socket. On first plugging it in, Windows went into the setup routine automatically. If there is one change I could suggest, it would be to offer a choice of colour other than black; it would then be easier to aim a finger at if it were not a black dongle on a black panel.

Fast and Secure Fingerprint Reader with a Minor Cable Flaw
TLDR BELOW:This fingerprint reader performs its job flawlessly. It reads fingerprints incredibly quickly, but the key is to keep your finger on the sensor until the recognition is complete, only lifting it afterward. It sounds simple, but it's surprisingly easy to forget during a busy day with lots on your plate. What sets this device apart is its on-device fingerprint recognition, which adds an extra layer of security. By processing the fingerprint data locally, it significantly reduces the risk of your data being intercepted by third parties. This is a big improvement over readers that send raw data to the host OS for processing. Additionally, the indicator lights are bright and easy to see, adding to the overall user-friendly experience. As part of the VeriMark series, this is the only fingerprint reader that's fully compatible with Windows Hello for desktop, which is a major selling point. The only downside, if I can call it that, is the stiff USB cable. A softer, more flexible cable would make the device even better.----------------------------------------------Update after 2 months:This fingerprint reader does not do the job properly.Praise for keeping the data on the device while processing, which is commendable however it is nowhere as close to a phone type fingerprint reader. This device fails to perform after a time with the existing fingerprint, why I don't know. Conclusion:It is nowhere as good as a fingerprint reader on a bad phone, even they are better sadly.

Low accuracy, not really worth its cost in time
It’s cool to have a fingerprint sensor. And often, they work super well. My hands could be sopping wet when I get to my MacBook and while I wouldn’t handle my MacBook in that state, I’m highly confident it would pick up my fingerprint still anyway. For £30, the verimark falls short of that by far. It was easy to set up and worked well with my desktop (I put it in the USB port my keyboard has), and it looks cool on the keyboard. It’s plenty small enough and seemingly works with a lot more than just Microsoft’s surface devices. However, it just doesn’t pick up my fingerprint very well at all after initial scanning regardless of how clean my hands are. I’ve tried redoing it twice since and it still just refuses probably over half the time to recognise me. It also REALLY doesn’t help that unlike macOS, you either have to click or swipe up into the login screen and then either fail scanning your fingerprint something like 5-7 times or press some fiddly buttons to have the right to enter your pin in Windows 11 if you start to realise the sensor won’t work. All in all, I just tragically can’t recommend it for £30.

Compact though not perfect
I like the fact it fits firmly into the USB port (you actually have to push firmly to get it in as its a tight fit.It is true that it can sometimes take 2-3 taps to get it to work and having a sweaty finger or something may throw it off.But it lets you add multiple fingerprints so I've added the same finger at different times to give it more data to work with. Overall give the compactness of the device I think it is worth it.

Flawless and fast.
This has worked flawlessly since purchase and has remained plugged into my laptop permanently in lieu of a built-in Windows Hello device. It is incredibly fast to recognise a fingerprint (can dab at it for less than a tenth of a second and it will work), without having any false positives during testing. I only wish they also made a USB-C version that supported Windows Hello.

Was great, then variable, then rubbish
I bought it to use mainly to unlock my laptop with Windows Hello and to use with some Windows password manager apps.Initially it worked ok and was quite fast. I was quite happy with it.Then it started working intermittently and a small piece of the rim fell off but it was working 8 times out of ten. Then 3 months later a large piece of the housing came away and it started randomly not recognising any fingerprints. It was then working very poorly and I gave up on it. I bought two of these but I wish I hadn't. The second one is in place now so we'll see how long it lasts...25/12/20Intermittently not recognising any of my 8 registered fingerprints then recognises them perfectly...infuriating!🤬02/01/21Same problems as the first one. Gave up and replaced this second Kensington Verish*t fingerprint reader with a much cheaper one from Arcanite.15/12/21The Arcanite reader is working perfectly nearly a year later.
