Fantastic Gen4 SSD with DRAM
I bought the 4TB ver when it was on sale for £208, and at that price, it's hands-down the best Gen 4 SSD deal you could ask for. Its reputation for top-tier performance, quality build, and solid reliability is well documented over the years. I bought mine specifically for demanding tasks, a mix of heavy workloads, gaming, and general everyday computing.Even at its usual price, the SN850X is right up there with the best Gen 4 drives that include DRAM, like the Samsung 990 Pro and Crucial T500. It strikes a great balance: more affordable than the 990 Pro with performance that feels very similar in day-to-day use, while offering better sustained write speeds under heavy load compared to the T500, which is a plus for large file transfers or content creation. For console use, it's the same, a top tier choice, keep in mind you will need a heatsink for it if that's your usage, either a third party or official one (more expensive). However, if you're a budget gamer, you'd be just fine with a cheaper DRAM-less SSD.Just a heads-up, the actual usable space you get after formatting is about 3.6TB. This is normal for SSDs due to space reserved for performance and longevity (over-provisioning).Getting this drive for £208 was a no-brainer for a top-end, high-capacity SSD with DRAM. If you need speed for demanding applications and gaming, and especially if you see it near that sale price, grab it. Highly recommended!

Blazing Fast and Runs Cool — Perfect for Gaming
I upgraded to the WD Black SN850X 1TB with Heatsink for my gaming pc after my ssd died, and it has exceeded every expectation. Installation was a breeze — it slotted perfectly into my motherboard's M.2 slot, and the built-in heatsink saved me the hassle of having to reuse the one i already had and made installing it easierThe speed is incredible. Boot times are almost instant, and games load fast AF. I’ve also noticed smoother performance although thats probably due to having a fresh windows install. The heatsink does a fantastic job — even under heavy load, temps stay well within safe limits. It’s also PlayStation 5 compatible, so this would be a great option if you're looking to expand your PS5 storage with something fast and reliable. although i dont own one so cant comment on anything about thatIf you want top-tier performance with excellent thermal control, this drive is worth every penny. Highly recommended!

Reliable, fast and great brand.
Delivered promptly.I was actually looking for a 2tb and had one in basket already when I came across this WD Nvme.I decided to go for this over 2tb to give myself peace of mind. The installation is as easy as it can be. WD provided cloning software which after downloading it took about 4 minutes to clone my older Nvme and that's it really! It's fast and reliable brand. Downloaded WD dashboard from their website to use T.R.I.M and it works flawlessly.Overall happy with the quality and price point of this product.Haven't benchmarked it yet but this is next on my to do list over the weekend.-TM

Excellent drive - the heatsink makes a real difference!
My first M.2 SSD was the 1TB SN850X, and after 1.5 years of gaming on it (using the motherboard’s heatsink), I was so happy with the performance that I decided to get another, this time the 2TB version with the built-in heatsink.Tested both in the same M.2 slot and conditions - the 2TB without heatsink hit 85°C under load, while the one with the heatsink peaked at 65°C. That’s a massive 20°C drop just from the heatsink alone. Idle stays around 40–42°C. No need to mess with pads or third-party coolers. Just plug it in and you’re done.If you’re planning to push the drive or want peace of mind long-term, get the heatsink version. Totally worth it.

My go to NVME drives
I own many of the WD SN850x range, and found the read/write performance superb. Even on long sustained transfers this never skips a beat and just works fantastically well. Coupled with the speed performance, the reliability has been great also, touch wood I've had none fail on me.As an M.2 2280 NVMe SSD with PCIe Gen4 compatibility, you'd expect nothing less.As all NVME drives it is compact in size and I would highly recommend a heatsink on them to ensure no throttling happens due to overheating (not encountered but just a suggestion)

Good choice
Actually works as advertised no issues as of yet and that's still going well today

Snappy, and big
I bought this as kind of a replacement for a previous Sabrent Rocket 4 2TB, which is now in the second slot of my B550-F board. So safe to say that this WD_BLACK SN850X 4TB is in the first/PCIe 4.0 slot. Results are pretty close to the speeds advertised. I also pair this with ROG/ASUS's RAM Cache III, and is shown in the results. I'm using the "Real World Performance + Mix" profile. You're going to have to rely on any M.2 screws that came with your motherboard, or prior NVMe drives.

Not difficult
A small Philips screw driver is required for Play station Ps5 fitting is fairly straightforward to ps5 watch you tube videos for basics.Once installed and everything is secured, switch on and on screen it comes up (ps5)Format drive which you select and takes less than a minute to do soYou can transfer games across, go to settings etc, but cheat go to you tube to be shown what to do.Have transfered two games and appears to be OK.
