Rubbish, don't waste your money
I bought this as a replacement for a superb one that my husband managed to knock a glass of wine over. We use it for The Times Crosswords and Codeword. It was not a good buy. Where do I begin?1, The on/off button gets stuck under the casing and we have to ease it out with a fingernail or a spectacles screwdriver2, It is far too small, making it awkward and fiddly to use.3, The keys are too small for anyone over the age of about six.4,There is a pathetically small number of words in it. The most common display reads "Sorry, can't help". Many ordinary words in common usage are not in it.5, The anagrams function is poorAll in all it is a useless piece of junk.

Not the same as my previous machine, which I used daily.
Bought this to replace the Seiko Oxford crossword solver I’ve had for a while, which has just packed up. This Franklin is quite different to operate in comparison but I should get used to it. The Seiko is apparently no longer available - other than used ones - which could be no better than the one I had before, which just broke. It was quite a wait for this because I think it has come from the USA. Seems expensive for what it is though. ******having had this machine for a few weeks now, I am a quite disappointed with it - it doesn’t find the simplest words when I am using the crossword mode. It just flashes up,” sorry can’t help”! Today I punched in u?e?e??? And it didn’t find UNEVENLY! It has failed several times previously to find very common words. My last machine never failed me. This is dated 17th Feb 2024.

It is tiny!
Hoped that this would help me with my crossword but the buttons are so small that I was pressing 2 or 3 at once! and the screen is tine too, making reading it a chore (I needed a magnifying glass!!!)Sure it would be great for someone with delicate fingers, more delicate than mine anyway, but of no use to me.I also would not have bought this had I known that it was being shipped to the UK from Las Vegas! I feel that Amazon ought to have informed me of this. It took over a month to be delivered and now I suppose I will be waiting for the same amount of time for my refund, if not longer! This is not the sort of service that I am used to from Amazon. I hope this is not a harbinger of more problems......

Good little gadget
My 9 year old daughter wanted this to help with homework and to look up the meaning of words when she is reading books. Her teacher has this same one so she knew what it did before we bought it. It is a very small device though, probably not suitable for older eyes or chunky fingers. It is a bit smaller than an average mobile phone. It came really quickly also.
