Garmin 010-11952-00 Air Vent Mount for Garmin nuvi Sat Navs,Black

Bought for a Garmin DriveSmart 50LMT-D. The standard windscreen mount is rubbish (aren't they all?!) So needed an alternative and this fitted the bill perfectly. As it mounts on the slatted dash air vents it sits lower down in the car than a screen mount. For me that's fine as it also means less cabling. It's also less visible from the outside, hence more secure and safer to leave it (and Sat Nav) in situ. The tangs are hooked and slide easily and very securely into the air vent (BMW X3). The tangs rotate so can be used vertical or horizontal louvres. It comes supplied with the adaptor to fit a Garmin sat nav, is well made, and looks to be of durable quality. The bum-clenching days of watching the sat nav falling off the windscreen are, I'm pleased to say, gone... worth every penny!

As with many others, I bought this mount in the hope that an OEM-branded item would be properly designed and suitable for its task. Unfortunately not, it seems. I tried this mount on three different vehicles, and is was useless in each case.This mount is poorly designed:(1) The "arms" are fixed length, and thus are very loose on narrow vent grilles;(2) The screw clamp is very mechanically weak, and cannot grip vent grilles tightly - or stay locked tight;(3) Worst of all - there is no lateral support at all - the mount can simple swing from side to side. I notice that even some really cheap mounts have a cross-plate to counter this problem.The end result is that a sat nav just swings around when in the mount. The slightest bump in the movement of the car is sufficient to cause the unit to flop around. This is distracting and thus potentially dangerous. Its hard to believe that Garmin ever actually tested this mount before they sold it.

This keeps the satnav away from window area but within easy reach and to view.Nice bit of kit sturdy and very very minimal movement during driving.Update now having used this for a while. I unfortunately found the same as other customers the little brackets that hold the clamps are weak and have broke. So now it will not tighten on the vent fin so falls off. Nice idea but weak plastic on clamps let's this down.

Like most sat-nav users, eventually you get fed up of putting the suction cup on the windscreen, then removing it, then sticking it back next time and so on.. - I decided to try this little device. I guess I should say at this stage, it will very much depend on your vehicle and the style of air vent you have as to how useful this will be. There will be some vents it won't work with. In my case I have a Golf and this fits very nicely in the centre right-hand vent, providing a good viewing height, convenient path for the power cable and is remarkably stable and firm during driving. I hope it stays like this.

Worked well when it worked. Was sturdy too until lower arm broke, without cause, outside the return date. The original bracket lasted years. I've repaired it with SuperGlue, Not sure if it will work!

Had to return

I wanted to get away from having my satnav on top of the dash as it was too far away to reach safely. Also I did not like the obvious "I have a satnav" advert from either a ring on the screen or a suction adapter on the dash top.Initially I was a little sceptical that something stuck on an air vent blade would be stable enough but I need not have worried. It was very easy to screw firmly onto a vent in my Hyundai Coupe and a little arm on the back sits on the edge of the vent holding it at the right angle. With the satnav installed it is discretely below the dash top but close enough to line of sight to read easily. I can also touch the screen without a struggle and most of the time it is very stable. It does jump a little when going over UKs mass of pot holes but has staying in place for some time with no issues.Highly recommended

This did not fit at all well with my Citroen C4 air vents. It kept loosening and falling off so that I was repeatedly having to stop and refit it. To add insult to injury the fitting gave up completely after only a few months as one of the 'legs' snapped off when the unit fell off for the umpteenth time.Two things - is there any recompense for such a non- or poor-functioning unit? Is there a unit out there that WILL perform well? I now have my Garmin being hand held by a passenger when I need it!!

Ersatz im Originalkarton von Garmin war ok und hält im 2002er CLK super.Ergänzung vom 05.09.2024:Die Ersatzhalterung kam am 17.07.24 an und funktionierte zunächst gut. Jetzt - nach fünf Wochen - ist das Teil defekt. Warum? Fehlkonstruktion: während der untere Teil der Klemme stabil ist, ist der obere Teil der Schraubklemme sehr fragil und nun gebrochen. Fazit: teure Fehlkonstruktion, und das bei einem Original Garmin-Teil. Ich hätte besser auf die negativen Kritiken gehört ...

Produit conforme à la description et très pratique. En revanche, il faut être très vigilant lors des manipulations de montage démontage sur la grille d'aération, ainsi qu'au serrage, car les pattes sont assez fragiles. Sinon une fois bien monté, très stable. Un conseil, ne pas le laisser à demeure sur la grille d'aération, car avec le soleil et la chaleur dans le véhicule, les pattes se fragilisent aussi.
