This brand packages their L-Phenylalanine in bovine gelatin capsules instead of a plant-based capsule, so it's not suitable for vegans and vegetarians. It's not hard to use a vegan capsule, so it's perplexing why they didn't to expand their buyer pool. I don't normally take L-Phenylalanine as I don't think I'm deficient in it, and exercise can produce this metabolite naturally, and it's present in plant and animal foods, such as meat, eggs, fish, and soy products. Too much Phenylalanine can have negative side effects especially in sensitive individuals or those taking medicines for mental illness, so checking with one's doctor would be advised.I've used Bulk supplement's D-Mannose with success for years: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00P1SOMSM . However, I won't get this again because of the bovine capsule.It doesn't appear as though it's made in the USA. I do think their "3rd party laboratory" testing done to make sure it's safe for consumption should be available on their website and show the purity of the product(s) they sell. Just because something is safe to consume (for example, that it doesn't have too high of a lead level) does not mean that the product has the listed amount of the product that it's supposed to contain. So to overcome these issues, making their 3rd party testing public on their website would be more helpful to the consumer. Minus one star for lack of transparency and using bovine gelatin capsule instead of plant based capsule. That said, their bulk D-mannose has worked for my bladder issues for years when I've needed to take it occasionally.

But, in my opinion, the supplement industry has both some of the highest integrity companies, and some of the lowest. So I try and give a detailed enough review to help get to know the company and the product better, to help you determine for yourself if you want to try this one out or not.This bottle comes almost full to the neck! That's good nowadays.If used as directed it will last eight months.The "best before" date on mine (THANK YOU for not putting it on the bottom!) is Feb 28, 2029, so about 4.75 years from now.There is a very slight scent and taste to the capsules and they are easy to swallow with water.I like my supplement bottles to say organic, non-GMO, GMP-certified, 3rd-party tested, and Made in USA. This says none of those. The product page says 3rd-party tested and cGMP compliant.Even though I have occasionally used and liked BulkSupplements over the years, I look into the supplement companies I use now because I've come across so many shady ones. The bulksupplements site is functional, and even says they have COAs (I believe that is Certificate of Authenticity) available for all their products. I don't see a phone number but they do have a chat feature on the site, and they have a listing on Google Maps with both an address and phone number.That being said, I found an article from the end of 2023 done by an online lab which tested 15 supplements from BulkSupplements and 1/3 of them did not pass. Reasons included some that contained almost none of the advertised supplement, one had toxic metals, and another had 2.75x more potassium chloride in it than was listed on the label (scary, because that is involved with electrical signaling of the heart). They have already made some improvements after this article came out, but now I am wary of the more than one dozen supplements I have from them. This L-Phenylalanine Supplement arrived well-sealed and contained 240 Capsules, with one Serving Size being 1 Capsule. The Capsules are easy to swallow and don’t have any bad Aftertaste. Each Serving contains 500mg of L-Phenylalanine. I like that this Supplement has been Third Party Tested. I also like the Low Price.

I am always glad to find supplements which don't add fillers to them as it is unnecessary. I mean why should we consume fillers? This product fits the bill is just the supplement itself in a capsule. I also appreciate that this is third party tested, though the area this is lacking in-is the disclosures of where this is manufactured and where the ingredients are sourced.I alternate between taking L-Phenylalanine, DLPA (the D and L versions of phenylalanine in one), and L-Tyrosine. I find that they all have different effects though they are the amino acid precursors for the same building blocks. Search for a comparison of what each one does for helping your body create dopamine or epinephrine, and find the right one that works for you.Because it is an amino acid, I take this on an empty stomach to not compete for absorption. The capsule is tasteless and odorless, with no side effects.

Having started a diet with less meat, I decided to try this to supplement some amino acids I might be losing in my diet. This is a GIANT bottle! So much bigger than I anticipated. I usually take one if I know I'm skipping meat that day.In terms of the product itself, seems like there's nothing but L-phenylalanine. They are relatively small capsules that are easy to swallow and had no off putting scents or taste. Happy with this product.
