fun fact about stuff made in China: they offer different levels of manufacture quality. you can litterally choose on a scale the materials and quality control used. So next time you get something from China that is a cheap POS, call the American corporation that told them to make it that way for larger profit margins. as for these speakers, they are extremely well made. i got mine damaged for a discount. the rear corner and heat sink were SMASHED but did not penetrate the enclosure. ive been blasting them for 2 weeks now with zero issues. i took a look inside for anything broken and the not only were the wires sleeved, organized and tucked so nicely, i think the PCB they used is the nicest ive ever seen in a speaker.

I picked up my main speaker and there was no movement of any type internally. Sounds like something may have been damaged during shipping.

Great computer speakers. However I have them hooked up to an Audioengine D1. It is a Digital to Analog converter. From the converter to the speakers there are two are connector that go from the dac to the speakers. They have their own power source. It is 50 Watts. They need a break-in period. They are very loud for 50 watts. As long as the receiver has rca connectors you could do it but I would not advise it as they have their own power supply. You could do research on digital to analog converters online to find one to your liking. I like the Audioengine it was well rated in reviews and I paid $169.They have a mini plug that you can plug directly into your sound card.

Awesome speakers, 11 years and going

It's been 11 years and these A5+ speakers are still going great. Still loving it. Has travelled with me across continents, supports 110 and 240 volts. The treble and balance is great with decent musical bass. You can always add a sub if you want more bass. Great detail and sparkle in the highs

One of the rare times in life when you don't get what you pay for - instead you get a lot more.

Convenient to use. Don't need an amp (they have their own). Fantastic sound for all types of music. Small, discrete.I have had mine for 5 years now and I love them. There's a reason Audio engine haven't bothered updating them over the past 5-6 years: they can't really be improved upon.For the price (INR 20K I paid 5 years back) they are simply unbelievable - they sound better than my previous speakers which cost several times more. One of the rare times in life when you don't get what you pay for - you get far more. Not often that happens, but here it did.I run mine through an Apple airport router (which they are basically designed) and through an Audioengine DAC, which I'd recommend as it soups up the bass as well as improves the overall sound.An easy 5/5 rating
