I like this biltong alot! My problem in the past with other brands has been a bunch of shredded pieces, and nuggets of fat. This brand is a full bag of slices, and no fat nuggets. Not too pricey for a pound. I will be buying this again. This has a great flavor, and not too salty. I wish I had a never ending supply! It's the best that I have ever had.Here is a later update, I have ordered another bag, and still am very happy. Another review states that this is more like shredded beef. I believe that this was just poor quality control as a flute, and don't believe that is a normal output of this supplier. So I am sorry for your misfortune. This product is focused on one flavor, which is fine with me, but it gives them more chances to get it right. It's still the best I've had, and is lean, and perfectly sliced.

This is tasty and delicious biltong without being overly salty or too dry. I stumbled upon a few recipes online for making biltong and tried making it myself. I bought this biltong to gauge to see if I am making it correctly. From what I understand, there are many different styles of biltong, but they all have a few things in common: strips of meat seasoned with salt and spices (usually coriander and black pepper), then air dried and then sliced thin.This biltong uses a high quality meat that isn't too fatty or too lean. It is nicely spiced, and has a hint of cloves (which surprised me) and has a nice balance of moisture. It isn't too peppery or too salty. It is pleasant tasting and filling - a small portion actually goes a long way to making you feel like you have had a satisfying snack.I was a little concerned that I had this shipped in summer where it can get over 100 degrees, but it arrived fresh and in good shape. They do warn you to refrigerate after opening, consume within 3 days or freeze it for later. I'll probably be freezing some for later as the portion is too large for me to consume within 3 days.Judging by this biltong and comparing to the biltong that I made, I am using too much salt, cutting my strips too thick, and drying for too long. I will make some adjustments to emulate this biltong.I am very pleased with this product and would order again.

I keep my biltong in the freezer since there is no way I would be able to consume the entire bag within a three day period. This biltong has a great flavor and texture. I love that the pieces are on the smaller side and thinly cut, yet meaty - makes defrosting them quick and easy.

Love taste. Like real Biltong from home. Would order more if price was less. Its pricy so only get it for special occasions even though I’d eat as a daily snack if it was better priced.

I tried EVERY biltong on Amazon, this one is the best for the value and taste for sure! I keep it in the freezer and don't even defrost it, just eat it straight from the freezer :) I think, because the meat is dry - it is never fully frozen, but stays super fresh for a looong time!

Moist and greasy shredded bits. Not AT ALL like description, or the photo. (in pic is a U.S. dime, for scale). Flavor is pretty good. Didn’t know it should be eaten within 3 days! Probably b/c it’s so greasy it gets rancid quick. It’s like very small shredded beef jerkey, dipped in grease.

Not as good a flavor or texture as others I have tried

I have tried many different biltong makers in the US since moving here 25 years ago - from Texas to North Carolina to Brooklyn to California I’ve tried them all. I even tried making my own in a small New York City apartment, but that too, missed the mark.Then I ordered this biltong from Carnivores, and it just changed the entire game. THIS biltong here, IS the real deal. They are obviously using top quality meat, and the perfect spice mix to bring this happiness all together..I will be a very regular customer!! And I hope they stick around for the next 25 years so that we can continue to enjoy the most delicious treat known to South Africans.
