Super helpful! I'm buying a copy of each of his books
NB: I paid full price for the book and have not been compensated in any way for offering my review.I'm a language learning geek, so I've seen a ton of study guides etc. Almost never have I reviewed one. The last one I reviewed was like 4 years ago, but I am constantly buying them. That alone should tell you- this book made an impression on me. I am going to buy a copy of each of Dominik Wexenberger's practice books. This A1 book is perfect for my level. After using apps on my phone and desktop, I found that I still couldn't compose sentences or speak freely. Unfortunately, there aren't many books written for the A1 level. I got frustrated by buying books that were above my difficulty level, and by trying to memorize huge grammar charts. German is not for the faint of heart! I was starting to get discouraged. Now I feel like this is doable and within my abilities. There are several great things about this tiny little book. I get practice with grammar, vocabulary, and reading. I can also use these with my language exchange partner for speaking and listening practice.Using this book really helped me to feel accomplished. Each exercise is short, though they get progressively longer. The content was very well planned. Each exercise builds on the prior ones, and adds new items at just the right pace. The questions afterward check for comprehension, but they also offer a chance to practice using different verb forms (ich, du, ihr, sie etc). I bought the kindle version, so that I can study anywhere. The formatting is often lacking in kindle books, but not this one. I really like how the questions are posed on one page, and then on the next page you can find both the questions and the answers. This prevents the reader from having to jump back and forth. You can't beat this price, and I'm very satisfied with this purchase. If I had it to do over again, I'd get my money back for the video game-esque apps, and start with this much sooner. I wish there were more stars to give.

Basic Text, no frills
I study with both Duolingo and Babble. While they are both very good, I really need supplementary material from A1-B1. While there are many excellent multimedia materials (e.g. check out dw.com) these are mostly at higher skill levels. This book, consists of several very short stories along with conversation practice. It's good for the A1 level. A comfortable mix of basic words with a few harder words. At $2.99, the Kindle edition is a nice purchase. The printed edition at $9.99 is not. As an instruction aid, the book has 2 major deficiencies: it lacks a word list for the advanced words, and the text-to-speech (tts) is absolutely worthless. It relies on the Kindle tts which has no idea how to pronounce German. The flash card feature is also worthless.I prefer the slightly more advanced (upper A1?) Andre Klein series which are amusing and give some cultural background. Each story includes a German-English dictionary, and audio text (as read by the author) is available. The audio text provides excellent listening practice. Flash card sets in the widely used Anki format (free download elsewhere) are a plus.

Great Practice - highly recommended
After studying Newcomer and Beginner courses on Babbel through the A1 level, I picked this book to practice what Iโd learned. This was a real eye-opener on the importance of selecting additional material for learning German since there was a LOT of new vocabulary I hadnโt seen yet. Fortunately, whenever I came across something I had to look up, simply selecting an individual word or highlighting complete sentences, it opens up an instant Bing translation right in place.

Excellent A1 review!
Syntaxis, choice of words, and length of topics make this book enjoyable as you review your A1 German or practice for your lessons.

Save your money for a professional Book with no errors.
I am suprised the book was just printed, the ink is hardly dry. The questions ask what I am doing but the answers are designed for what you are doing. Well, I will be buying real text books from Deutschland, not a knockoff backyard experiment. And I spent money on two of these. Ugg..... Learn German and Practice German A1.

The text is in German, as well as the questions. You actually get to construct your answers in German and have a complete answer key. Highly recommend!

Good educational book
You need a bit of basic German to enjoy this book. So itโs a question and answer book. All the answers are there, and thereโs a lot to learn.Itโs definitely worth buying.

Bien enfocado para los que empezamos. Sencillo para avanzar sin darse cuenta.
Me ha gustado. Es como digo sencillo pero permite avanzar sin darse cuenta. El sistema de preguntas favorece la parte activa.
