NICE "THIRD HAND" VISE
I shopped a lot before I bought this vise, and read so many reviews that I couldn't see straight. I think the bottom line is, decide what you want to use it for, before you buy. The Revolution is just fine for what I use it for, which is tinkering with guns ... not used as a shooting rest. It is plastic, which makes it light weight ... a good thing. It's not cheesy plastic, though ... very well made, and well thought out. It's easily length-adjustable, and the tilt feature can come in handy. In my case, I really like the ease of take-down; I have a couple of guns to fiddle with at a time, so I do my fiddling, then take the vise apart and hang the components up out of the way. For the small investment, I think it's a great buy.

Simple, functional
This is a good product for minor work on your firearm. I have mostly used it to mount scopes on a couple of my blackpowder rifles and when I'm reloading to hold the rifle steady when I'm measuring the correct bullet seating depth (using an OAL gauge). There are better products for heavy duty gunsmithing, but this will suffice for minor work. The only thing I didn't like was the nuts and bolts necessary for assembly were covered in grease.

For light-weight to medium use.
The vise is light weight, so it would be good for travel. I question, however, if it would stand up to heavy use over time. If you have 1 or 2 guns, and if all you intend to do is cleaning or MINOR servicing on them, then this is a good item. I intend to use this for cleaning and servicing a dozen or more rifles at a Boy Scout camp on a daily to weekly basis over the summer merit badge program. We'll see how well it holds up. --- I am hopeful.UPDATED AUGUST, 2013: I used this vise extensively throughout the 6-week summer camp season to clean and to demonstrate cleaning of the camp's rifles. The vise worked well throughout. When attached to a rifle, it was light enough to be able to be turned or moved with ease. I was also able to rotate the rifle to the right or left [there is an adjustment to turn it "one notch" to one side or the other]so as to more easily access or show the rifle(s) from another view. I had no trouble with the vise whatsoever. The two rods holding the vise together each break down into 2 pieces, so the vise can be packed up or used in a smaller work area if desired. On each side of the two mounts there is a pair of notches. These notches can conveniently hold one cleaning rod each. I found this very convenient. I was able to use multiple rods holding different tips, allowing me to clean several rifles without having to constantly change the tips. The product write-up also claims the vise can be used for handguns. I have tried using it to clean a couple of pistols. I found clamping a pistol to a vise to generally be a nuisance, and I preferred to hold the guns in my hands when working on them; however, I feel this would be a useful device if I needed a "third hand" to detach or reattach small parts. Given the same circumstances, I would buy this item again.

VERY GOOD GUN VISE..
Received this vise today and put it together, I screwed one end down to the table, this is a very nice vise for the money. It's the best one I have ever used. You can spin the firearm sideways to work it if you need to, it's well made.

Very useful item and works well
Very useful item and works well. I bought this because I was impressed by its ability to rotate the gun and hold it in place. At first glance, I thought it might not stand up to regular use, but I have to say that it is strong and very well designed. I use it for rifle maintenance and for sighting in handguns.I like the non slip feet and the quick clamps that hold the firearms in place. I thoroughly recommend it.

Not good for heavy work
Great vise for doing minor work to your rifles and shotguns. It is really flimsy and will torque up on you with any kind of major work like removing a barrel nut or flash hider. If I could do it again I would pay the extra 100 dollars and get the lead sled. This is a 62 dollars chunk of plastic. Great door stop.

It's a good looking gun vise
It arrived today, I took it out of the box and put it together. I was hoping for some metal or strong polymer not thin breakable plastic. I generally like Lyman products. It is a very good design but very cheaply made. This is just a cleaning cradle at best. There will be no maintenance going on here. Gunsmithing not a chance. Like I said it's a great design. Where was it made?

You get what you pay for...
Item shipped fast, reasonable price, easy assembly & light weight. BUT it's a gun VICE, not a shooting sled. Read the details to understand what you getting. Gave 3 stars since it isn't multi purpose, it's a vice!

Versatile
I really like this vise and how versatile it is when working on you rifles. There is some assembly required, however if you can follow instructions and look at the picture you should be able to assemble with no difficuties.

Really impressed
Handy as hell. Didn't think I would use the tilt that much but I'm using it all the time. Don't know why some one didn't come up with this sooner.
