High Quality, high price, but worth it
The Liberty Mail Chute Letter Slot is solidly built with beautiful welds, very sturdy construction and the powder coat is flawless. This mail slot is a work of art and would most definitely enhance curb appeal of your home over other sloppy mail slot options out there. Don't buy the 49 dollar mail slot at your local big box store and install it on your most valuable asset. This bespoke mail slot is classy, feels like quality in your hands and looks like it belongs on your home. If you want the flimsy bronze painted aluminum slot that squeaks and gets stuck in the open or closed position, then this is not for you.On to installation. Our stuccoed walls are 6" thick and the 4"-6" chute fit perfectly. They do offer an adjustable chute, and I'm sure it's built with the same high quality, but we went with the 6" one-piece slot first and it fit perfectly. We're not wealthy, but we like to purchase quality products and this mail slot delivers. The four star on the "easy to install" is only because if you intend mount this yourself, and you have to cut masonry, brick or stucco walls, you will need a few more tools than the average DIY'r may have. Also, there weren't any installation instructions other than how to mount the slot in a brick wall in a new construction home. In my opinion, a major failure for such an expensive item.Using my stud locator and checking stud location, I marked and leveled where I wanted the slot on the INSIDE of the garage (always start in an area that's easiest to fix mistakes) and cut away the drywall to expose the backside of the firewall (most local codes require a firewall between the garage and living spaces of the home). I used my impact driver with masonry bit to drill the four corners from the inside of the garage to the exterior wall. Once the holes were through the stucco, I leveled and scribed the box on the exterior stucco. I used my oscillating tool to cut along the line removing the stucco and exposing the firewall that is sandwiched between the exterior drywall and exterior stucco. I then used the oscillating tool to cut through the firewall. Any certified handyman should have these tools if you desire someone else to mount it for you. After several test fits and some trim work using the oscillating tool, I had a snug fit. I used exterior clear silicone caulk all around the slot behind the flange to provide a bug and weather barrier and then pushed the the slot into place. At this point the fit was so solid I probably didn't need to use the mounting screws, but having a certain level of OCD, I pre-drilled the four corner holes with a 5/32 masonry bit and installed the four mounting screws provided with the kit.The downward slope created a slight gap on the interior wall, as you can see from the pictures. I filled that gap with the silicone and will later fix it up with drywall patch and quarter-round trim. All told, the installation took less than three hours. Mainly because we measured six times and cut once. We're confident that a more skilled person could install this mail slot in two hours max. We're very fastidious how we spend our money, and the cost of this mail slot and the letter plate cover had us second guessing the expenditure, but after receiving and installing it, we are really pleased with this purchase.

Beware of this truth before you buy. It is NOT aluminum!
I recently purchased this mail chute together with a Qualarc letter plate. The mail chute is incredibly heavy, but I didn't realize why until after installation. The chute is made of steel, not aluminum as advertised. This is easily verifiable with a piece of magnet. The product description is inaccurate. I would have returned it if I hadn't already installed it.The letter plate, however, is correctly made of aluminum.

Well built ... with one drawback
I replaced an ancient brass wall mounted mail slot with this product (and the proper matching faceplate) and I must say it is a well built, clean designed product. Outstanding strength, good powder coating, good design. In my case, the slot goes through about 3 inches of a hard insulating product, and through 1/8" thick birch plywood (the finished wall) and empties into a basket on the floor. HOWEVER, there is one drawback which I would suggest for the manufacturer. My chute extends through a finished surface, which was cut to size with a jigsaw. The edge is not perfect.I might experiment with some silicone sealer to clean up the edge, but the manufacturer should offer a simple machine cut plate that give a 1" frame around the interior and can be glued or screwed to the wal to make the interior as pretty as the exterior. I still think it is an excellent product.

High quality, very sturdy, easy to install
Used a wallboard hand saw and nippers to cut through outside stucco and then through garage wallboard. Inserted the chute and sealed with silicone for a weather tight fit at the stucco. Fit my wall 6" depth perfectly. Take your time and remeasure often for a very nice result. I bought the Qualarc Letter Plate for Liberty Chute, bronze color, as the cover. I checked the US Postal regulations beforehand to be sure of the height details (see their web site). Final step was to attach a copy of my Managed Service Point postal bar code sticker (smudged out in photo).

The only product on the market that fit my needs
This is seriously the only thing on the planet I think that would work for my situation. Cut a hole through a stucco and wood wall to allow my mail into the garage. Cutting the hole was the hard part, but installing the unit was easy. The biggest problem was that they did not include the drill bits for their weird screws. Fortunately, I dug around and found some that worked. They really need to include those drill bits! This thing is built like a tank. It’s perfect so far. Way overpriced, but I didn’t have a choice. Knocking a star off because of the price and the missing drill bits.

Best mailbox ever.
The mailbox we had was installed in a house that was built 70 years ago. It was cheap and poorly designed. Although this unit is crazy expensive and not the simplest of installations, it is great. We no longer come home from a vacation with mail stuffed in our box or torn up mail from being forced through. The best built and best designed box I have ever seen because now mail easily slides through with no hang ups.
