Into The Skin: The Ultimate Tattoo Sourcebook (Tattoo-U) Paperback – October 15, 2011

I JUST got this book today and was pretty excited about getting it....yes, the cover art alone sells this book.The book covers the History of tattooing very well. Matter of fact it covered it so well I got bored reading it and went right to the meat and potatoes of the book. The book hits on many subjects that are VERY useful to a new tattooist unfortunately not as indepth as I would have liked to have seen. The time spent on covering all the "Types" of tattoos could have been better spent on other subjects in my opinion. What i would have liked to have seen it cover was more "Trade Secrets" of which I don't think any were actually "EXPOSED"....at least not to my knowledge, and I guess I really didn't expect any to be anyway. It also has lots of subliminal Ads placed throughout the book since it is obviously from a tattoo supplier. Interestingly enough the ONLY Rotary Machine covered was one they sell and it didn't get nearly enough coverage. I was impressed by the needle coverage, they did a very good job of laying out needle selection, history, and properly putting the needle into the tubes right down to bending them. All in all its a good read, and i would recommend it, especially to someone just starting out. If your new to this you will find it and extremely valuable book, for the rest, well, its a good read with some hot cover art.The DVD was interesting and i watched Just about all of it. I cant really say as I learned a lot from it but I did pick up a little here and there and its always interesting to me to watch these videos. Again, there's some advertising for their products but that's what i had expected. All in all, worth the money spent, thanks guys!

didnt have a ton of pertinent information in it. I haven't watched the dvd but the book wasnt very informative.

It's a very good laid out book and information was helpful in what I wanted to Know. Would recommend to a friend.

Ok, I admit I bought this book for the eye candy on the cover, and believe me that was worth the price but the inside is awesome. I'm not sure why there are no preview pages here on Amazon, but the inside is packed with full color photos of tattoos and the tattoo process from start to finish. I already knew how to tattoo and have been doing it for a long time, but this book had so much information that even I learned some new things. There's history, tattoo technique, machine tuning and even how to build a portfolio or what you should know if you want to open a shop.Over all really great. It's the best tattoo information book I've ever read.
