This twofer pairs Tara's Theme -which includes the #1 hit Theme from A Summer Place -with the #7-charting Jealousy release from 1960. 23 lush Columbia tracks!

Great Percy Faith
What a wonderful CD. Percy Faith had a great orchestra & such beautiful music. Very relaxing. Makes for a wonderful stress free day.

The missing track
Two wonderful albums from Percy Faith! The Gone With The Wind album contains the hit version of the Theme from A Summer Place from 1960. The only drawback with the CD is the omission of Tia Juana from the Jealousy album. The track is available on CD, though. Collectables released three CDs of Percy Faith recordings called Columbia Singles I, II, and III. Tia Juana is available on Volume III. (Incidentally, Volume III also contains the three tracks from Bouquet Of Love that were left off the CD when that album was paired with the Bouquet album.)

Though "new" the 2nd side of the CD had noise interference.
The 1st side of the music CD had good sound, but the 2nd side had some to a lot of sound interference. The CD should be exchanged for a good one. Marshall McCall

Worth a zillion stars!
I would give this CD 10 stars if I could! It contains some of my most favored music ..... not a bad one in the bunch! This music makes me smile and my heart beat a little faster😊. Unfortunately, you don't hear this beautiful music played anywhere now. Theme From A Summerplace - the best slow dancing music ever.

Good Percy Faith Compilation
Another good Percy Faith compilation. I particularly enjoyed Tara's Theme, Exodus, and Jealousy (Jalousie). When I am stressed, this music always eases the tensions with its beautiful melodies.

"Our Man From Canada"...nothing less Dynamic & Exhilarating!
Thinking back to the original releases, played each one almost every day...big fan of "OurMan From Canada" ~ Percy Faith...each track is carefully arranged and the result is asalways breathtaking...Faith has taken each composers composition Max Steiner, Raksin,Marchetti, Gold, North and Manos Hadjidakis, who won for Best Song in 1960 with"NEVER ON SUNDAY", as actress Melina Mercouri gave a fine performance plus thebeautiful Greek photography, Faith's arrangement for this is exhilarating.Let's talk about the stand outs ~ "GONE WITH THE WIND"(1939-Steiner), based onMargaret Mitchell's novel with Rhett Butler(Clark Gable), Scarlett O'Hara(Vivien Leigh-wonfor Best Actress), Mammy(Hattie McDaniel-won for Best Supporting Actress), VictorFleming(won for Best Director) and GWTW(won for Best Picture), Steiner was nominatedfor Best Score, it was Steiner's score that gave each character life through his epic-sweepingsoundtrack, Faith writes an uncanny arrangement and travels beyond Steiner's original(if that'spossible) take it from me, I have both in my collection...another Steiner classic "THE DARKAT THE TOP OF STAIRS"(theme), not a familiar release(only if you're a fan), but Faithdoes so much with this one, counterpoints and melodic changes areevent..."LAURA"(1944-David Raksin), being a film-noir enthusiast is at the top of my list as aCLASSIC, but let's not stop there, Faith's arrangement turned heads and he was getting therecognition deserved, sweeping strings, brass and percussion almost collide as the Maestrogives the signal...the last Steiner score became one of Percy Faith's signature tunes "THEMEFROM A SUMMER PLACE", couldn't go anywhere and not hear this CLASSIC amongCLASSICS, this arrangement and special moment in ones life will never be replaced, gottalove it.Highlight pick is ~ "TEMPTATION", big song for Bing Crosby(film), later by PerryComo(gold record), but this instrumental orchestration is so dynamic, takes you into anotherstratosphere(which is nothing for our Maestro)..."BEGIN THE BEGUINE"(Cole Porter),opening almost sounds like a different song, but when Faith's string section comes in and thebolero beat takes over you're in heaven, entire orchestra is right on, but wait and listen to themood-swing as the plucking of strings change into a drifting cloud, percussion abounds withevery instrument joining in the big finish..."THAT OLD BLACK MAGIC"(Arlen/Mercer),echoing strings relate to a muted brass, each string section takes on the harmoniouscounter-balance, now we build into a Latin-American rhythmic tempo(which Faith can do in aheartbeat), strings answer each call from the brass and percussion sections, another FAITHCLASSIC...my last highlight pick is ~ "SOPHISTICATED LADY"(Duke Ellington), this canonly get better with one of my composer-heroes Duke Ellington, how can you interpret hismusic unless you're Percy Faith, and this interpretation is lustiest with strings, followed byvelvety brass and the sound is SO SWEET, you want it to go on forever...and through thegenerosity of Collectables Records it can, this is a must have for ALL fans and connoisseursof "Our Man From Canada" ~ PERCY FAITH!Total Time: 77:52 on 23 Tracks ~ Collectables Records COL-5843 ~ (1997)
