Hoping for the fantastic quality I have found in the pST and Viper ...
This is the least expensive Vortex scope I have. I paired it with a marlin 60, 22LR for servicing varmints around the farm. Hoping for the fantastic quality I have found in the pST and Viper HS, but not really expecting it, I fearlessly bought it for the reputation and unmatched warranty. I put it through a 10 MOA box test yesterday. This $180 scope performed as well as any other Vortex scope I have, returning back to zero every time. All of the adjustments of the turrets had precise and expected shifts of point of impact. That cannot be said for any of the leupold scopes or Bushnell scopes I have ever had. I still have a remington 700ADL, 6mm with a Leupold 4.5-14 x50 VXIII ($759 scope) that will not go to dead center bull. The 1/4" clicks are sometimes 1/2" and sometimes don't seem to move it all. I have had it for many years and like my old Red Rider BB gun, I just know it is 1/2" high and right. All of the Vortex scopes have machined turrets under the caps. Which means you don't need to use a coin or tool to make the adjustment. They have easy to see and accurate graduations on the turrets so you don't need to count the clicks. And when you turn the 1/4 moa turret 6 clicks, down range the POI shifts 1.5 inches. Thats how a scope should perform. This $180 scope performs as well as its sibling Viper HS and PST. Unbelievable! Very clear glass, solid material, unmatched warranty and the best performance in a scope under $1000. Buy two and turn a friend on to Vortex scopes. I can't say enough good about them

Damn nice scope
finally got to test fire new gun with this new scope. The clarity and brightness (light transmission) of this scope is far better than two other manufacturers that I have. I have a revolution in 3.5-10x50 and a vx-3L in 3.5-10x50. The diamond back beats them both! I am now looking at the viper 22 specific model for both my kids guns. I am sold on this brand now. 4th shot and gun was zeroed in and shot several other rounds to confirm zero had held; and it had. While I wish this scope had a little more zoom range (maybe out to 12 or 14 for target shooting), practically speaking, the zoom range is really all I need in my rather thick forest. I do recommend that you purchase the vortex scope caps at the time of purchase. I could not find butler creeks to fit and then had to order them from my local gun shop and wait for them to come in. If you order the better cap that vortex offers (with stainless steel springs), they too will have lifetime warranty. So, you can't beat their warranty, I found clarity and workmanship to be at the same level of my higher end vx-3L, aluminum caps for turrets, flip caps with the same lifetime warranty, smooth functioning zoom and it holds zero. To top it all off, this will ring the register for far less than other scopes and never let you down. Should ANYTHING happen to it, don't sweat it, because it is covered by a lifetime warranty. Sure, you will have to live without it for a while. But knowing that it won't cost you anything other than your original purchase price to get it fixed/replaced? That is peace of mind in my book. Thanks Vortex! I'll be back again for sure.

Great scope for the money, super clear glass!
Vortex makes some great scopes for the money. I put this scope on one of my .22 rifles and I've been very happy with it. It seems to hold zero well. The glass is incredibly clear, and the scope is backed up by Vortex's transferrable lifetime warrantee. This scope is available in a "non rifmfire" version, which is available in the V-Plex or BDC reticle flavors. The difference between the rimfire and non-rimfire versions is where the paralax is set from the factory. For the rimfire scopes, paralax is set at 50 yards, while the non-rimfire version has the paralax set at 100 yards. I have the non-rimfire version with BDC reticle on a different .22, and have had no problems zeroing the scope at 50 yards. The reticle is a simple, fine crosshare, so if you are looking for something more advanced, look at the same scope with the BDC reticle. The BDC reticle is intended to take some of the guesswork out of shooting. The problem is you still need to know how your particular ammo in your particular rifle will behave at different distances to effectively utilize the BDC. The simple crosshare is "faster" than the BDC (in terms of time to get on target) and will get you close enough for plinking and hunting if you practice and get a feel for holdovers or scope adjustments. The adjustment dials/turrets are good and offer definite, audible clicks. The clicks are not as nice and "crisp" as on my Trijicon Accupoint, but that scope cost 5+ times what this Vortex cost. The only problem I had with this scope (and my other diamondback) was when I went to reset my turrets. To set these turrets, you will need a broad bladed screw driver or a coin to remove the screws holding the turrets in place. Unfortunately, from the factory my screws were extremely tights. So tight in fact that I had to hold the turret lightly with a set of pliers in order to get the screw unstuck. Once the screw was removed, I found that removing the dial was tough and required use of a flathead screw drive to pry the dial off of the scope body. Of course, this requires you to re-zero your scope. So, I would recommend loosening the turret screw before heading off to the range for the first time. Leave it tight, but loose enough that the screw can be removed using a coin at the range. Doing so will allow you to reset your turrets after zeroing your scope, and then make fine adjustments at the range. I would put this scope up against offerings from Nikon's mid-priced range any day. In fact, I would take this scope over a Nikon, Burris, etc. It arguably isn't as nice as a Leupold scope, but you get more bang for your buck with this Vortex. The Diamondback line is a major step up from the Crossfire II line of scopes, and is worth the additional money. You can spend even more on the Viper line, but Vortex doesn't offer a dedicated rimfire scope in the Viper line. If I were to improve anything on this scope, I would like to see a better turret design. Also, I'd like to see an option for "tacticle" turrets, which allow you to adjust for range and windage on the fly. This all being said, I really like this scope and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to anyone.

Quality Glass
Vortex always delivers. Specifically wanted one made in the Philippines and not the Chinese stuff.

Great Compact Hunting Scope
I like this scope (1.75-5X32mm) so much I've bought three so far. I've mounted them on a 12 gauge slug gun, as well as .308 and 6.5 Grendel bolt actions. This scope is a great balance of size, magnification, and clarity. If you are looking for an affordable, compact scope for woods hunting or a compact setup, you will have to look hard to find a better option. The glass is clear and the reticle is well sized, not too thin or overly thick. The hold off hash marks are maybe a bit close together but that is a small issue with how I use theses scopes. The adjustments are positive and repeatable and the scope holds zero for the use I've given them so far ( less than 50 rounds). I would give this scope serious consideration for any hunting gun expected to be used in woods or brush country.

Great scope for the money!
I did a lot of research before going with someone I had never heard of. What I found on various gun and hunting forums I'm on is that not a single person had one bad word to say about Vortex. I used a lot of Google-fu too and the thing that sticks out the most about my research was that I came across one forum post where a guy said he was a lifetime Leupold owner but after using the Diamondback he couldn't see EVER spending Leupold type money on a scope ever again. That was pretty much what sold me. My personal experience is limited to one range trip of about 3 hours but let me tell you. This thing is slick! It's THE NICEST scope I've ever owned in this price range. The glass is extremely clear, the variable power ring is easy to twist and the windage and elevation knobs are knurled and can easily be rotated without a coin or a flat head. The BDC reticle is fantastic and any picture you find online won't do it justice in real life. This is once company I'm glad I took a chance on. I got my hands on their Strike Fire recently too and it was a fantastic optic too. This is one company that I will definitely be revisiting when I need something else to put on top of another rifle. Update: This scope has seen action in the field and has helped me put meat in the freezer. It was nice to get out in a real world setting and off the range to see what it was capable of....I wasn't disappointed. She currently is seated in a LaRue mount(Which I highly suggest). I tried cheaper mounts that did "ok" but the LaRue really helped me settle in and tighted up my groups by at least half an inch at 100yds. Also, this is being usin on a AR in 6.8SPC with ZERO problems.
