I feel like pictures in a cookbook are important in order to ...
I am giving this product three stars only because I'm sure there are a few people out there that literally cannot cook anything that might find this book helpful, so I don't want to discount it completely. This cookbook has very few pictures which is a negative (to me). I feel like pictures in a cookbook are important in order to be able to know if you want to make a recipe and even to know what it's supposed to look like. I would understand leaving pictures out if this were a cheap cookbook, but for the price I paid I would expect almost every recipe to have a photo. The main issue with the cookbook is that the recipes are extremely basic, way too simple unless boiling water is a challenge to you. For example, the recipe for mashed potatoes is- potatoes, granulated garlic, and granulated onion. I'm not saying that wouldn't make a tasty potato, but I would not expect that to take up a page in a cookbook that was this expensive. All of the recipes are like this, I could cook all of these recipes on my own just using common sense. I was looking forward to this cookbook for creative ideas for plant based, oil free, salt free, sugar free meals and it did not deliver. Look into the other plant based cookbooks out there unless you are an extremely novice chef- not worth the high dollar amount.

My favorite Whole Foods Plant Based Cookbook - Tasty recipes that are easy to make
I had purchased this book when it first came out. I went to a Whole Foods Plant Based diet with no added oil back in 2015 after finding out that I was born with very small coronary arteries, and those were getting clogged. I had a stent placed in my LAD, and later had to have a pacemaker. The cardiologist I was going to had no real recommendations to diet, instead saying follow the American Heart Association guidelines, or do your own research online. I found that I was already doing better than the AHA guidelines, so did more research and found the reversal diet researched and written about by Dr. Dean Ornish in The Spectrum, Dr. T. Colin Campbell in the China Study, Dr. Caldwell Esselstyn in his fantastic books, Dr. John McDougall in his, and so many others. My hardest thing to do is to come up with some variety in the meals I eat. Straight Up Food is my favorite cookbook with simple recipes that taste great. It would be my first choice for those who would like to live a healthier life. The food in this book and others have truly turned my life around, and I have outlived my first cardiologist's expectations. I hope to live many more healthy, happy years by following the reversal diet as so well presented with these fantastic recipes in this book.

Really easy, delicious recipes
I've been vegan for over four years, but have decided to cut back on the amount of oil I use since my cholesterol numbers haven't been great and I've been worried about using too much coconut oil in my baking and cooking. I had seen the high reviews for this cookbook, but held off for awhile on ordering it since the price seemed high for a cookbook. I finally ordered it about a month ago, and am so glad I did!Everything in this cookbook is oil-free, sugar-free, and salt-free -- and while you may think that that would limit the taste, everything I've made so far has been delicious! The author uses ordinary ingredients for all her recipes (so you won't find things like chia seeds, goji berries, etc. in here), and the idea is to create recipes that replicate favorites.I'm including photos of the blueberry muffins, enchilada casserole, and veggie burgers.I also love the coil binding on this cookbook; while the pages sometimes get stuck, it allows it to remain open for ease of use. Also in the back of the book are several sections that outline strategies for things like how to change to a plant-based diet, how to cook without oil, how to do menu planning, and tips for traveling and eating out. Nutrition data is included for each recipe in the back, too, and the author provides serving sizes, calories, caloric density information, as well as information about fat grams, sodium grams, carbs, protein, sugar, fiber, and calcium. While pricier than other cookbooks, I like supporting authors like Cathy Fisher, who obviously put her heart into creating healthy, delicious recipes. I've been using this cookbook a lot, and know I will for years to come.

THANK YOU!!
Thank you Cathy Fisher!!!! A couple of years ago after I shockingly had my FIRST stent put in my heart I tried eating Plant Based but my attempt only lasted a couple of months. I was in denial, and shock, until last November, 2016, I had another one put in! At this point I was taking it a little more seriously but truth be told, I didn't go FULL Plant Based until the week after the 4th of July, 2017! I was searching, and searching, and searching, frantically quite honestly, for the cookbook that I knew was out there, and I FOUND IT, YOURS, I told my husband that in order for me to be successful was the food had to taste good! That was the only thing that was going to help me succeed. We've had the Beefless Stew twice, amazing, Split Pea and Yam soup, yummmmmm, Enchilada Casserole, yummmm, the Baked Oatmeal with Apples and Raisins, AMAZING and better leftover, and many more! Today is our 44th wedding anniversary and we have chosen to cook at home and we are having the Pizza Pasta and for dessert we are having the Blackberry Peach Cobbler that I just took out of the oven! Usually I'm done with a cookbook after trying three recipes or so but not yours! Today I had to go out to run an errand and I couldn't wait to get home to have some Tu-No Salad, yum. I will try EVERY one of your recipes! Am I making my point? Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! and THANK YOU!

Five Stars
One of my favorite WFPB cookbooks. NO OIL, NO SUGAR, NO SALT!!! I wish all the people who publish WFPB would say if they are oil, sugar, and salt free.I have made some of the recipes and they are GOOD. Ketchup of Fries is wonderful. It is an expensive book but, worth the price. We are in our 2ed year of WFPB and I am 72 and my husband is 75. Very helpful book.

Super book
I bought this book without any one recommending it, but have since heard several people, including Chef AJ praising it. It is a great book, beautifully laid out and fabulous recipes. Ideal for those who would like to eat healthily and or follow a Whole Food Plant Based food regimen. They way it is bound is also great as it sits well on my book holder. I am delighted with it.

Everyday healthy meals
I love this book. Easy recipes without an exhaustive list of ingredients. Everything I've tried has worked out well. It's my new favourite cookbook.

Good Wholesome Food
I bought this book because of a particular recipe I wanted that came with high praise and that was the Arabian Lentil and Rice Soup. Very nice, I have made it twice and it will certainly be a keeper and will look at other recipes in time. I would have given 4 stars at this stage but for the fact, not being from the USA, I found it completely frustrating not to have ingredients listed in weights, especially when it comes to bulky items such as vegetables. For those who use cup measures all the time, I don’t think they will have any issues. Most international chefs and cookbooks use weights and I have decided I will no longer buy any cookbooks that doesn’t list weights as well although of course I will not know as the “Look Inside” option doesn’t show any recipes.

healthy recipes for sure
I am so happy to have this book. The recipes are wholesome, healthy, and no fancy ingredients to be looking for. The instructions are so detailed. What I really love is the fact that some of the recipes offer substitutes for example one recipe calls for cashews but it suggests an alternative for the cashews. Oh did I also mention the food is absolutely yummy.
