Great content; offensively bad binding
I love America's Test Kitchen and everything they produce — until the day I got this book. I have many ATK books and a subscription to Cook's Illustrated. I almost never buy cooking equipment without a recommendation from them. And I rarely bother with new recipes that doesn't come from ATK (except for the ones I make up with all the cooking skills ATK has given me over the years). I was so excited when I saw this was coming out that I pre-ordered, and was just honestly happy at the thought of working my way through it with my 2-year-old twins (and my new baby boy in a few months). And now that I've got it, I can say a lot of really good things about it. Great pictures for every recipe means the kiddos have been very interested to flip through it with me. And the recipes are — as always — superb. I've already tried several that have worked beautifully, and I can honestly say that I'm excited to try most of the recipes in here. But the binding is absolutely the worst I've ever seen. I've now had this for just two days, and I've already got pages that are trying to fall out. On a book that will definitely be abused by children, this is beyond unacceptable. I know that ATK know how to bind books. I just bought their new "Vegetables Illustrated", and its binding is beautiful. But the cheap glue on this thing means that I'm here on Amazon looking for a ring binder that will fit these pages. This is the worst experience I've ever had with anything related to ATK.

The binding and the recipes were falling apart...
This book supports my fear that the new America's Test Kitchen is more about quantity ($) over quality (maybe they've gone too corporate). The book itself was falling apart when we received it. I expected the recipes to be healthy and creative and got fruit salad with added sugar, quesadillas that are oil, tortilla, cheese. I stopped looking through it but there may be a fried chicken recipe in there that is "chicken, salt, grease". I guess it might be a decent book if you've never cooked anything before...??? Or maybe my expectations were too high after pulling some of my family's favorite recipes from older Test Kitchen books. Anyway... I'm returning it and will no longer buy America's Test Kitchen books.

You won’t be disappointed!
This book is super colorful with their pictures and color schemes, has easy to follow instructions just like the original ATK always does, and has what appear to be original recipes straight from their kitchen. It’s all organized by age, highlights allergens from the beginning of the recipe, and even includes the informative “why this recipe works” section that ATK consumers are used to. I love that they even have extra tips on how to make the 9 and 12+ month recipes more friendly for younger kids to be able to enjoy, and for everyone to be able to enjoy one meal. SO glad I got this book! I’m definitely not disappointed!

A little disappointed.
I'm a long-time fan of ATK and have collected more than a couple of their books over the years. Their thoughtful, intelligent approach has always impressed me--which is why I was SO EXCITED about this book. Maybe too excited, as it turns out. I had hoped that they would include more information about nutrition, complementary proteins, building a palate, etc. This is not that book.

Great for picky eaters
Love the book overall. My 10.5 month old baby is so picky that I dread are every meal. I've tried three recipes in the book so far. He loves it! I can't believe that he's eating red meat! Usually he hates any meat or any textured foods.

Wonderful for reference and ideas
I purchased this book before my son was born and he is now over one year old. I have really enjoyed that this book covers multiple stages for cooking, from first foods to family meals and snacks. As my son progressed in his eating abilities, I would often re-open this book to look at food ideas. This past week for instance, as I was looking for new food/snack ideas I made him both the savory Oatcakes recipe and Carrot Muffins (as replacement for the constant baby cereal as snack consumption). He enjoyed both and it was nice to get the ideas to add variety to his food as he is not a super adventurous eater. There is a lot of emphasis on feeding your baby whatever you the parent are eating and just putting it in a blender. I was initially very intimidated by this idea, and it was nice to have a section in this book called family meals, where they provided meals that could be blended up for baby but also consumed by his parents while we were learning what made sense to stick in a blender. That being said, each section was not very long, so I often found myself wishing there were more recipes in each section. What the book lacked in length though they made up for with a lot of flavor combinations and variety.I have also given this book as a gift to new parents and my sister and everyone has enjoyed it.

a must for home made purees!
This is currently my most used cookbook in our house (with the 2nd being America's Test Kitchen Best 30 minute meals)! With infant twins it's way too expensive to buy ready made purees and this book makes it so easy to make my own with steaming options in the microwave and stovetop and large quantities that I can easily freeze into ready to use cubes. The twins have loved all the purees so far - have tried the single ingredient and the combos. I'm venturing into the family meals section today to make something for my picky pre-school aged older kid, we'll see how that goes.

FUN AND MEMORIES
Nothing to dislike about this book!!! Visual appeal, lots of photos, great suggestions, and reasons as to why the recipes work. Another winner from ATKI purchased this book for my granddaughter and great-granddaughter. My granddaughter is as excited as I am. I highly recommend this book. Wishing I had this 58 years ago when my daughter was a wee bairn.

90% good
I really like this book because i am not much of a cook and I can still make all of my baby’s food because the book breaks down instructions very precisely. Ie tells you exactly how to steam veggies with what pot, with or without a lid, and for how long. It’s basic but if you don’t normally steam zucchini’s for example, the details are helpful. All of the recipes have turned out as pictured (no waste) and my baby eats it all. The only thing missing is there are no instructions on how to introduce allergen-type foods (peanut butter, dairy etc). For that reason it is not “complete”.

Yummy but not super healthy
This book does offer some really nice recipes. Great ones for the family/adults. Mango salmon is delicious. The only thing I’m not a huge fan is a lot of recipes also have sugar. If your looking for a fun cookbook then yes, healthy not so much.

Amazing cook book
Amazing cook book for any mom. Love the layout. Each recipe tells you the age group and how much time it takes to prep the meal. This is my favourite cook book!
