Perla La Loca (Love and Rockets)

I can remember reading the comics when my parents would go out for the night, I was fascinated by the realness of the drawings, the wording, the touch of scifi made for great reading. I moved out and moved on, but a part of me still pined for the comics, they were my friends when I was all alone. So if you need an affordable read, with kickass drawings, lots of punk rock fury and beautiful ladies: buy these books, now I am asking for the new series for Christmas.

If your new to the Love and Rockets world, it can be intimidating , being ap. That the storyline jumps around and the case of characters are many. Don’t over think it just dive in, like meeting a new friend. You jump into there life with a lot that has passed by. You just jump in and learn as you go along. You get the whole rainbow of feeling throughout the story. Can’t say enough great things about about the bros Hernandez body of work.

A heartfelt and affecting story brought to life by one of the most gifted artists working today. Unparalleled.

Avid literature reader, and both Jaime and Gilberts work is some of the best stuff I’ve read. Fun, thoughful, sad yet nuanced. Theres enough space for laughs too. Love and Rockets is incredible reading.

This is one of the high water marks in all off American comics. The Hoopers storyline of which this is merely a continuation is proof that comic books can successfully aspire to being art. A labor of love and one of the few comic books deserving of the title literature.

Haven't read it just yet, one of the great Slice of Life comics, makes incredible reference and illustration inspiration.

Best comic, best story.

Love and Rockets é uma das melhores coisas que já foi publicado em quadrinhos, na minha opinião tem tudo o que uma história em quadrinhos precisa pra chamar minha atenção. Este terceiro volume da continuação as histórias Las Locas produzidas por Jaime Hernandez para o primeiro volume da série lançada pela Fantagraphics nos EUA (este volume encerra toda a publicação de Las Locas do primeiro volume da série, os encadernados seguintes "Penny Century" e "Esperanza" são materiais que saíram em outras publicações). Uma pena que a publicação disso no Brasil sempre foi uma tremenda bagunça, essa foi uma das razões que escolhi começar a coleção gringa mesmo. O material gráfico é de primeira, recomendo muito!

The best installment of ''Locas"!

Love & Rockets is a seminal comic from the 1980's, and the bulk of the Jaime Hernadez works have been assembled into three collections (the first two being Maggie the Mechanic and The Girl from HOPPERS).This book concerns Maggie and Hopey, estranged from each other, but always on each others minds. It shows an honest look at Latino family life, the world of women's wrestling, and the lives of young California punks in the 80's. The book is very frank about sex, without being leering or pandering. It is a complicated, accomplished work. And the line work by Hernandez is masterful. It's a beautiful book.I really enjoyed this work, and I thought it lived up to its high reputation. I look forward to getting the rest of the books in this series. If you've never read any Love & Rockets, I would recommend ordering all three books from this run and look forward to a great time.
