A Hallmark original movie masterpiece
In this family-oriented film, a grandmother named Annie (Betty White) takes her granddaughter Ella,(Amy Davidson) on a road trip to Annie's Point, a scenic place that had special meaning for Annie and her late husband. Against the wishes of her son, (Richard Thomas) Annie takes Teenage Ella, along with an urn containing the cremated remains of her late husband, on a cross-country trek to the place she hadn't seen in half a lifetime. Stops along the way provide lots of adventure, lighthearted moments, and a visit to Annie's brother, whom she hadn't seen in a long time because of a misunderstanding. Both Annie and Ella come to realize dreams come true in the course of the road trip. I recommend this movie to anyone looking for something to watch as a family. Touching moments, humor, "slice of life" story elements. I'm glad I have this movie in my video library. You will too.

Annies Point
I first saw this on TV and knew it was one I would have to own and I finally found it thru Amazon.I LOVE Betty White and she was wonderful in this movie as was Richard Thomas. It is a adventurous cross country trip with lots of fun & humor & a few tears as Annie & her Granddaughter take Annie's husbands ashes to where he wanted them spread on their 50th Wedding anniversary at a place they called Annie's Point. Her Son wants to put her in a home & wants his Daughter in College while trying to keep the family business going, but she wants to sing and write music & is to shy & still misses her dead Mother. They take off on this trip against his wishes & he cuts off their money source and takes off after them, but Annie and Grand daughter manage to carry on just fine, & help with each others problems with a feel good ending.

Entertaining and Touching
Perhaps the only thing more amazing than Betty White's longevity is her talent. She can be comedic and dramatic in the same scene and does it very well. And she makes Annie's Point worth viewing. She portrays a widow who tries to fulfill a promise to her husband to have his ashes scattered over Annie's Point, CA. Her health is precarious and her son is against her driving cross country, but she tricks her granddaughter into going with her without her son's prior knowledge. The trip is as much as a voyage of self discovery for both of them as it is a fulfillment. The script is cliched in places, but Betty White makes it work. Richard Thomas is very good as the son, and Amy Davidson is sweet as the granddaughter. Would recommend it.

Can't Wait
I'm so looking forward to getting this movie. I remember watching it on TV several years ago and loved it. I recorded it from the TV and have watched several times. The quality of my VHS tape isn't very good anymore, so it will be wonderful to watch it like it should be.Betty White & Richard Thomas are both great actors and are wonderful in this movie about a woman (White) who wants to take her husband's ashes to a place that was very special to both of them and where he has requested his ashes be spread. The only problem, it is across the country and her son (Thomas)feels he is too busy to take the time to take her there and that she shouldn't go alone. So she gets her granddaughter to go with her, without telling her son, and off they go in a funny, sentimental at times, road trip. And, of course, like she thought he would, her son follows them and the whole family is together when they reach that special place, "Annie's Point".

lots of fun
This movie wins 4 stars for its humour and the way it deals with relationships between the generations. it's not the most polished and the storyline has a couple of flaws, but overall, this is a good story for preteens to adults. Recently widowed Annie, (played by Betty White) who likes to live slightly on the wild side of life, promised her late husband that she would take his ashes back to California, to a place on the coast that holds special memories for the two of them. The only problem is, Annie is now too old and not physically well enough to drive almost 2,000 miles across the country on her own. Her son, played by Richard Thomas, refuses to take her. Consequently, Annie manages to convince her unhappy college granddaughter to go with her.....totally unprepared. The journey stretches our imagination a bit, but the movie delivers a fun 1 1/2 hours of a good story about reconciliation and communication between the generations in a family. No foul language. No sex.
