HMH TRV SPARTAN FLY TYING VISE (True Rotary Vise/Pedestal Model) Made in the USA

I've had 2 of these vises and while they are a superb design, they were as different as night and day. One was great for large hooks but useless on anything smaller than a size 8. The other was great for the small hooks but useless for anything larger than a 1/0. Sad state of affairs for what should be the best fly tying vise on the planet!!

This vise is very simple and nice vice. Yes price is on a steep side but the quality and the vice is just a joy to tie on. I have renzetti and dyna king which are great but for some reason I really enjoy this vise. I been tying flies from size 22 to 8 so far without any issues it’s simple to set hooks and the brass wheel is great you can use your palm and turn the vice rotation with ease. My only gripes is for the price it should come with a bobbin rest although I don’t use much but they do help at times. And I would make the mount on the stem polished like the stem is it’s kinda antique looking. To Mach the shiny brass wheel maybe. In time the brass will blend in as well. I see this vise being handed down. And Bretons bike and fly shop is top notch seller. Fast service will buy from them again! Thanks
