Excellent solution. Elegant, invisible, effective
Fantastic! This is exactly what I needed. I have had a camera cover for years now, usually bits of paper, sticky notes, folded tape or some other home-made contraption. Recently I bought a black plastic slide cover for my sister's PC laptop, but I didn't want something black on my silver Mac Air.The SpiShutter is a thin flexible strip of metal, exactly the same color as the Mac Air body. It sticks to the magnets built into the lid of laptop, without glue. I was worried about whether it might wiggle or slip off, but it snaps tight and won't budge - the magnets are strong!. Slide it aside with one hand to move the opening over the camera, slide it back to block the camera. Easy! The whole SpiShutter blends into the laptop case so well that unless you know it's there you won't notice it. When it is offset (covering the camera) my Mac Air looks like it is missing the camera completely. The cover is 100% opaque. The lid closes comfortably, without any difference.NSA: You perverts! Now all you can see is black.

I like this waste of $20 bucks ...(-; - it's for a niche market (I am sold)
Freaking expensive piece of aluminum, but it's freaking sleek and does accomplish what it described. We know that we could definitely used a piece of electrical tape (a roll is like $3 bucks) and accomplish the same, but for me it's about ascetics and easy to use ( not having something to peel off ,not sticking forgetting the tape roll at home) I used this daily because I use my video camera on my webEx meetings.I get great complements on this product from my peers and I also use this product over my screen privacy protector from 3M and it works flawlessly. I wish I would have come up with this idea and I am sure some of you thinks that it's a waste of money but for me I have to have it. Trust me, it works great!

Well worth it.
works great with Mac book air. Easy to slide. My only complaint and why I didn't give it 5 stars is that it does not allow to let the lid close completely. although it doesn't result in a problem, just doesn't feel completely closed. I am not sure if it is possible to make it any thinner without losing quality and durability.

easy and works perfectly
I got this, and have now ordered them for a few family members. There is no sticky adhesive, so there is zero damage to your computer, it works super super easily, and I got it in the same color as my computer so you can't see it at all. Really perfect 100% block out protection for your webcam. All you do is put it on and that's it. You slide it to cover, and slide it to open...super simple super easy.

I love this, but half doesn't stick to my display
I love this, but half doesn't stick to my display. I think I got a defective one. I bought silver and black. The black one looks great, works but when I close/open MacBook is peels away.

Decent aesthetic and technically functional...but overpriced, underwhelming, and interferes with MacBook Air magnetic latch
I wish I had done more research before buying the SpiShutter... While effective at its designed goal--to provide *physical* security of your integrated webcam--and while it (initially) does nicely match the aesthetic of my MacBook Air, I have two major gripes with the item. 1) Based on the images in the product description--which appear to show a small gap between the opening in the SpiShutter and the surface of the MacBook at the webcam (note the shadow in the main product image)--I incorrectly interpreted that the SpiShutter is a slim, two-piece construction that allowed the shutter to slide on a fixed based (that's magnetically attached)... This was an incorrect assumption: the SpiShutter is, literally, just a very slim, single piece of steel. That's fine, but with no mechanically sliding functionality, it doesn't seem to justify the $20 price tag. 2) The product description claims: "Made from cold rolled steel, SpiShutter is mounted by leveraging existing magnets in your MacBook's lid and it does not interfere with the laptop's ability to fully close and stay closed." -- The claim that it doesn't interfere with the laptop's ability to STAY CLOSED is incorrect--on the contrary, the SpiShutter almost completely negates the ability of the magnetic latch on my MacBook Air to keep the lid shut. This has potential implications of allowing your MacBook wake from sleep (if the lid were to open just slightly) while in a bag, for example--and could lead to battery drainage or even hardware failure from overheating. While that may sound alarmist, the point is that it's disappointing and concerning that the SpiShutter DOES actually interfere considerably with the MacBook Air magnetic latch.I definitely wouldn't recommend buying the SpiShutter at it's $20 price point--for what it is (a thin strip of steel), it's worth $5-10.More importantly than that, the inherent design flaw of the SpiShutter's interference with the MacBook's magnetic hinge is a deal-breaker for me.

Perfectly effective, but Macbook lid won't latch shut
I was hoping this product would be a more convenient (but more expensive) replacement to the usual "sticky-note-over-the-webcam" approach. While the shutter feature was perfectly effective, attaching this device to the Macbook lid magnet made the lid incapable of latching shut. So when I carried my Macbook around closed, it would hang open about a centimeter, which I found too annoying to justify. I returned the product, but if you don't mind sacrificing the convenience of the lid latch for the convenience of a webcam shutter, this product will work quite well.

Great product!
Great way to maintain privacy without using a post it note. Magnetic strip holds great, moves back and forth easily and my laptop closes without any difficulty.
