When Beth Emhoff (Gwyneth Paltrow) returns to Minnesota from a Hong Kong business trip, she attributes the malaise she feels to jet lag. However, two days later, Beth is dead, and doctors tell her shocked husband (Matt Damon) that they have no idea what killed her. Soon, many others start to exhibit the same symptoms, and a global pandemic explodes. Doctors try to contain the lethal microbe, but society begins to collapse as a blogger (Jude Law) fans the flames of paranoia.

Excellent Thriller To Watch During Covid-19 Pandemic
I haven't heard about Contagion until March 2020 and so I purchased the DVD and watched it yesterday. The writing is solid for depicting a fictional pandemic with a cast of credible characters from the CDC, WHO, and MDH (Minnesota Department of Health). Gwyneth Paltro plays "Patient Zero" Beth Emhoff and Matt Damon, her husband Mitch who is immune to MEV-1 virus. Other actors did a great job like Kate Winslet (Dr. Mears), Lawrence Fishbourne (Dr. Cheevers) and Jennifer Ehle (Dr. Hextall), for instance. The narrative is mostly similar to what's happening today with Covid-19 Pandemic. For example, the RO with SARS CoV-2 is a 2.2 while the fictional MEV-1 pathogen is a 4. The screenwriter researched the science behind the movie and consulted with experts in epidemiology, which is highly commendable.

Great film, well done: makes COVID19 look like it would be a walk in the park. I’d seen it years ago and wanted to see it again but couldn’t find it on Netflix or Prime....

Contagion
Bruce Boxleitner gave an excellent performance as the President of the United States. Jeffrey Combs played an IRA terrorist working with an American doctor bent on revenge. I have to say that Jeffrey's brogue was pretty convincing. Jeffrey shoots the President of the United States using a gun with a needle containing the ebola virus. The rest of the movie is about the fear of the patients in the hospital and the development of a cure. What I like about Jeffrey Combs as an actor is that he never plays a character as completely evil. In this case, he only wants $100 million dollars and he feels bad that he has released a "plague" on mankind unlike the doctor who is working with him who just wants to see everyone suffer and die.

Fast Paced and terrifying
Another doomsday movie...only this one is truly believable. Bruce Boxleitner one an shines as the POTUS, quarantined with a disease that threatened all human life. Dramatic but not for hypochondriacs!

Somebody give this man a decent Budget.The Director of Contagion Anthony Hickox can do with a tiny Budgets what the likes of Michael Bay struggles to do with unlimited funds.This is a Cracking suspense/Sci-fi Chase Movie with Good acting and a story that carries You along to a satisfying conclusion.
